Can we please stop referring to people who commit horrific crimes and are actually punished for it as being "cancelled". R Kelly was rightfully sent to jail for being a child molester. Using the term "cancelled" downplays what they actually did compared to people who were outed for just being douchebags to people.

The fact that Johnny Depp essentially got blacklisted from Hollywood and Ezra Miller didn't is crazy to me. There's literally a video of Ezra choking a fan and pushing her to the ground in Iceland. The most aggressive thing Johnny Depp has been shown doing is slamming cabinets.

If you keep getting canceled, then that means you’re not getting actually canceled.
  • @zachwalker522
If you KEEP getting cancelled, then you're never really cancelled, so it's not really a thing, to begin with.

The idea that people actually idolize the Jenner and Kardashians....

You can't "keep getting cancelled", it's either you get cancelled the first time, or it didn't stick and that's the publics fault. The Paul brothers should be long gone from popular culture, but society keeps giving them chances.

You can “cancel” them all you want…but if you keep talking about them they don’t go away🤷‍♀️

Back in the day I guess we “cancelled” people by just ignoring them, they’re output and just being done with them. Now cancelling someone apparently means to keep taking a out them nonstop and making them more famous. There’s tons of people that I wouldn’t even know who they are if it wasn’t for cancel-culture.
  • People put waaaay too much stock into celebrities. Fame doesn't make you important, pretty, smart or inspiring.

I feel like Ezra Miller is the epitome of the phrase, “Pretty people can get away with anything.” No, Ezra…no they can’t.

Why do we put people on such high pedestals? We all do it. But people are fallible.

Imagine a country where so many people claim they are deeply hurt by people they have never met or interacted with.
  • I still kinda get bothered when people use the whole Kanye feud as their sole reason for hating Taylor Swift even though it was literally his fault. He started it. If he didn’t take the mic from her in the first place it could have been avoided.

There's no such thing as cancelling, hence 'keep getting cancelled'. The closest you can come is an industry blacklisting you. The general public is under no obligation to give money to anyone they don't like, that's not 'cancelling'.

It's not being cancelled. It's people realizing that someone is an asshole and are deciding to show them the door. See also; consequences of stupid actions

On one hand in some circumstances, you can’t get cancelled if you just don’t care…
