I remember raging at the front of the stage in Atlanta, August 21st, 1997, when they dropped this album. And a girl up front said do you like them? I said I absolutely love them, she said. Do you want to meet them? I'm Ken Jordan's girlfriend and I got to hang out with those guys on their tour bus. And they were absolutely the coolest guys bar none.

I don't always listen to the Crystal Method, but when I do, my neighbours do too.

"Another world, another time, in the age of wonder. .....this land was green and good - until the Crystal cracked! ...once more, they will replenish themselves, cheat death again, through the power of their source...the Crystal...the Crystal...the Crystal...the power of their source...the Crystal" **Original narration from the movie "The Dark Crystal" ** "Another world, another time, in the age of wonder. A thousand years ago, this land was green and good - until the Crystal cracked. For a single piece was lost; a shard of the Crystal. Then strife began, and two new races appeared: the cruel Skeksis, the gentle Mystics. Here in the castle of the Crystal, the Skeksis took control. Now the Skeksis gather in the sacred chamber, where the Crystal hangs above a shaft of air and fire. The Skeksis with their hard and twisted bodies, their harsh and twisted wills. For a thousand years they have ruled, yet now there are only ten. A dying race, ruled by a dying emperor, imprisoned within themselves in a dying land. Today, once more, they gather at the Crystal as the first sun climbs to its peak. For this is the way of the Skeksis. As they ravaged the land, so too they learned to draw new life from the sun. Today, once more, they will replenish themselves, cheat death again, through the power of their source, their treasure, their fate - the Dark Crystal. [Title card]... But today, the ceremony of the sun gives no comfort. Today, an emperor lies dying. Today, a new emperor must seize the throne."

I sat in a bar, a long time ago, and just tripped out to one 5hour long Crystal Method song, or what seemed like one song. It was so liberating and like a massage for my brain!

I bought this CD at Media Play in 1998 after one of the employees recommended it to me after I said I liked The Chemical Brothers, and wanted something similar. This was during the height of the "Big Beat" explosion in the US when The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, and The Prodigy were big (but still underground in a sense). It was also when bedroom-producers and electronic music magazines were first becoming a big thing, and when people started being PCs for home use and using VST synths and DAWs on them. I've listened to this album many times, including on the plane to Las Vegas a few years back and while walking around the casinos. The heavy breakbeats, acid bass lines, and crazy synth effects will never get old. I think this is their masterpiece, and is far better than the newer stuff. I"ll always be stuck in the 90s!

Where our music is appreciated we will play it loud. Where our music is not appreciated we will play it louder.

This and Fat of the Land have to be two of the greatest EDM albums of all time.
  • SO. FUCKING. 90's!!! - BEST. DECADE. EVER!!! The 90's brought us the internet, Quake 1, Warcraft II, Nirvana's Nevermind, X-Files, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer! 😍
  • This is the sickest intro to any song. All time classic!
