Revealing both of my sim racing and sim drifting setups that I have used with exact prices. Let's compare which setup is the best for a beginner. I can tell you the mistakes I've made so you can avoid them. Both T300 and G29 have their flaws, one costs more, the other one has lower quality. Ultimately it is up to you.

Question of the day: What do YOU think is the best setup for a complete beginner?
  • @Chris111294
You also don't need to buy the whole setup at once. You can just buy the wheel first, then get a shifter later on, then a handbrake, etc. I didn't have a shifter and a handbrake for a long time and the only issue really was that you can't really shift while drifting (unless your wheel has the paddles on the base instead of the wheel). Not having a handbrake in the beginning even forces you to learn drifting without having to rely on it for everything. So even if your budged is around 400, I would still recommend the T300 and then keep saving up for the rest.
  • T300 was my first wheel bought it about 2 years ago. I play AC and ACC every day almost. Usually do half hour practice and 1 hour races almost daily. I have the FFB completely full in ACC and about 45% in AC. The pedals are caked in dust and dirt and it's a bit worn, but after God knows how many hours played, this thing is still performing perfectly. I can say 100% this is impressive and I recommend it to any beginner. My arm muscles have only recently out grown this beast! great wheel guys! 😄 💪

The thing that makes the logitech wheel a lot more accessible, is that there are so many used models around. I managed to pick up a G27+shifter for $70 and it's a great start.

I only ever owned a g27 but I never had any complaints. I thought it was smooth as butter. The h-shifter felt a little cheap, but honestly worked like a charm. Especially because the whole setup with a stand only cost me £120, so I couldn't complain.
  • Running a LUT file through some games turns the G923 into a whole new animal by testing and correcting its force feedback output. In Assetto with mods it is fantastic.

Awesome video! Do note that theTH8A can be set as handbrake by adjusting the driver, you will then just use the pedals for shifting - Could be a great workaround when on budget!

Hi Goose, you inspired me to start sim racing, today i’m getting the T150 with 2 pedal set because 3 pedals aren’t necessary since i won’t be using shifter because i’ll pay for it more that the wheel itself. Thank you for inspiring me and giving your tips.

The biggest reason why all g series wheels are making loud clunky noises is because of bad grease between the gears. Buy new thicker grease and it's a huge difference in sound. They're all built the same way since g25 and this fix solves 90% of all loud noises on all gseries wheels. I bought a used G25 for 100 last month, applied new grease and tensioned all screws inside. It feels so much better than my brothers new g923, will apply same grease to his as well.

Bro i loved growing up watching your videos and they just keep getting better and better!

When you pulled that cheap wheel off the table flying into the air, it’s like 2am here and I struggled so hard not to laugh really loud 😂😅
  • @faustasst6606
I have an g920, wheel stand and a shifter for 280€. I is used but works like a charm. It's a pretty good deal and a nice wheel for starters.
  • @GetArkd
Good video and commentary. I don't like cars, racing, drifting but for some reason I clicked it and watched the whole thing lol. Whatever happened, you some how made it an interesting watch.
  • @DimzReacts
This was surprisingly a very informative video, I thought it would just be a funny video but it helped me decide to get the t300 over the g29, ESPECIALLY because I'd be playing at night while my younger sibling sleeps so I have to be quiet, the g29 is definitely not that.
  • @anubisfirst
ive been simracing for about 6 months my current setup is a used g27 i bought off a friend with the shifter for 150 CAD i bought a subaru WRX seat from a junkyard for 40 CAD and I built my simrig out of scrap metal I cleaned off and welded together free it originaly was a single 27" monitor i picked up from a thrift store for 40 buck so original cost to start simracing was 230 CAD. I have since upgraded to an oculus (due to lack of space for multiple monitors and cheaper than multiple quality monitors) and now looking at DD setup. just some inspiration for people if you are on a budget its a very decent setup especially if you are handy and dont mind modding your wheel. i built a custom button plate for the g27 and threw on a sparco wheel i found on marketplace for 40 bucks

I used to agree with you, I had a G29 for a couple years then moved on to a thrustmaster TX which lasted a year until it broke and wouldnt calibrate plus acted really strange when going lock to lock. I decided to go to Direct drive so I didnt have to worry about a belt driven base breaking on me again. I upgraded to the Alpha Simagic Mini and I was blown away with how good it was and how much better a sim drifter/driver I have become, it is night and day with the force feedback and accuracy. My friend also has a Moza R9 and his is great to, his was what made me want to upgrade initially. Do it Goosy upgrade to DD
  • one of the best no hesi content creators spitting mad facts, Im rocking a g29 i love it, had it for over a year or 2 now and honestly its the best budget wheel i owned in a while, lots of progammable buttons and the led light is nice cuz in ATS it can be uses to do other fuctions to see if ur tank is almost empty. But a t300 would be a future upgrade for me fs, great video dude
  • @FronezGez3592
If you are looking to upgrade, think about getting loadcell pedals before thinking about DD wheels, its a much better improvement over DD wheels and is less expensive to replace.
  • @GameWeOn
its a best recomendation in world!! i have G29 but its broken now, so i look for the new wheel! Thanks for your video! now i gonna buy a Thrustmaster T300
