This movie was good and enjoyable in a lot of ways, but what really made it an amazing movie to me was the live action portion of it and when you finally realize that it was all coming out of the mind of a child and his father's realization that his son had made him the bad guy in his imaginative play.

okay long rant, but lately i’ve been feeling like lately especially with quarantine my brain has stopped working and formulating my own thoughts and rather my body just on autopilot. but i recently found cinemawins and your channels that force me to think again about my favorite subjects, film and psychology/analysis and reignite my passion about both. so i know that a lot of time goes into videos and editing but i just wanted to tell you thank you for starting this channel and that your work and your videos are appreciated and deserve more recognition :) thank you for listening to my rant

All three of the Lego Movies (The Lego Movie, The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Movie: The Second Chapter) are all brilliant. The jokes are great (I still find the Jor-El bit in The Lego Batman Movie hilarious), there are emotional moments and all the characters, even the villains, are just fun to watch. And of course the creativity. The twist at the end and how the second part continues on from that twist. Brilliant.

As a card carrying SPACESHIP lego kid, I agree. Going too far either way just leads to unhappiness. Find your true path. Which for me, always means... SPACESHIP!!! Using "The Special" in the movie was just a master stroke of storytelling genius. So many people are desperate to be the special, they can't just be themselves and have a happy fun good life. For my table-top RPG groups, a lot of times, I'll play the normal guy instead of "this version of the special." I find enjoyment in being a normal hero. I can be a special one too. I find it fun to not be locked into one mode. Galatea sent me. =)

Personally I think the first lego movie was a real masterpiece to branch a difficult topic, it's easy to feel like you could just get rid of all the big bad rules up top that stop you from doing what you want but having no rules no guidance you won't get anywhere. Lego is such a great building toy because it is a system, the bricks go together in certain ways, but it's the creativity that figures out how to use those different connections. Meanwhile the 2nd movie felt like it was just backwards. If the brother has his toys and wants to lay a specific game with them he shouldn't have to change his game cause his sister comes in. If she wants to play with him she should be trying to join in with what he's doing then asking about doing different things. She basically steals half his toys then he's the bad guy for not wanting to play her way with his own toys. It's like if you were gonna play a boardgame and the other person just ignores all the rules then gets mad when you don't want to play with them.

You just perfectly summarized my thoughts about this film, and more eloquently than I ever could. The Lego Movie is such a great example of both a theme perfectly crafted for the story being told, and a story perfectly crafted around the themes it's conveying. The messages about creativity and conformity and family all fit the subject matter of legos wonderfully, and with the plot and character arcs being so expertly shaped around those themes... It just makes the whole thing feel tightly woven together. It says everything it needs to easily and effortlessly. Truly an amazing movie.

I’m a 44 year old man and this movie is unbelievable. Definitely one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.

I love this, the movie is amazing and I enjoy hearing your thoughts on it. I will say, however the music did need a shake up around the half way point. I enjoyed it until then, but there are few 13 minute songs for a reason.

Phenomenal video!! You made so many points I’ve thought about so concisely and accurately, it was so satisfying to watch such a well written and spoken video 💛💛 I especially liked this quote: “It manages to say everything it says without compromising any of the simple childish fun that gives the film its heart”. I feel like fun is severely undervalued as a legitimate quality, which is why I especially love kids movies like these!!

Underrated movie, underrated video, really enjoyed watching this one. Brought back some really good memories and makes me want to see it again haha

Man, I love this movie. They managed to achieve everything you described AND work with various IPs in a way that didn't feel forced, like how Batman suddenly shows up in the story which as an adult, you know it's because the studio wanted to maximize brand recognition, but from a child's point of view, of course Batman's gonna show up, because kids don't care whether it's canon for different franchises to cross over, they just do whatever they think is fun. The Lego Movie 2 is underrated IMO - it's an excellent sequel that builds on the groundwork of the first rather than a retread of the original. It's a shame it wasn't as successful.

If My Little Thought Tree says it's a good movie, it must be! I foolishly dismissed it like so many others; going to give it a watch today since I'm feeling under the weather. :)

It really grinds my gears when people refer to "The Lego Movie" as a toy commercial. That's like calling the Disney hand-drawn films commercials for ink and paper or (early) Pixar films commercials for computer technology. Obviously, kids can enjoy this film for the flashy colors and characters etc. However to really appreciate the way this film is put together, you have to be a bit older.
