When the guy being paid to tear down the houses is upset at the waste, the waste is huge. Habitat for humanity could definitely have founds use for most of those windows, much of the siding, and probably a lot of the stuff interior like cabinets, doors, and some wood flooring materials.

The problem is that elected officials who are at fault never got arrested and convicted
  • They could've been dismantled to a degree and gone into homes needed to house low income families, homeless veterans. It's disgusting!
  • @Starteller
So wait? You steal $40M and have to pay back only $4M and 3 years in prison. So 3 years in prison and you get $36M. Not a bad deal.

Being a demolition contractor in Detroit must be like being a kid in a candy store.

"They had no back door, they had no steps off the back door wall" Well what would they need steps for if they had no doors?

Two words: Economic Development. When you hear these words caution is recommended. Normally associated with mismanagement, nepotism, cronyism, graft, kickbacks, fuzzy accounting, vague chain of command, solutions for undefined problems, non-bid contracts, and a lot people unable to answer simple questions.

"We will get back to this guy and his checkered past in a minute" LMAO
  • The reason we can't get affordable housing for low income families is that these greedy politicians and contractors all start sticking their greedy little hands into the money jar. These effected communities needs to March down to their offices and peacefully protest until positive change takes place.
  • @gantmj
The older houses are of better quality anyway.
  • The cool thing about Detroit is if you have at least a 5th grade education in any other state you can be be the mayor of Detroit. If you dropped out anytime before 5th grade you it ok you can still be the Superintendent of the school board
  • sadly most of the issues these houses had could have been corrected, but I'm sure that would just lead to more corruption. Corruption in this country is like a disease.
  • @waaazupd1948
someone got a good payday from the scam, they always do
  • If he is on parole, then that means he's s felon. And as a felon WHY DOES HE HAVE A FIREARM ON HIS SIDE
  • @jwoodharmer
1:02 that house should be easy to tear down, it only has 200 HP left
  • @889martinrd6
the older homes look just as nice and have been kept up compare to the cookie-cutter houses that they slap up
  • They could’ve salvaged some of the materials instead of going to the landfill
  • @1BillT
Just look at the cast of characters that got put in charge. I wouldn’t trust them to manage and build an outhouse!!
