Every Jane’s show back in the day was like a gathering of the tribes. The punks, metalheads, skaters, goths, hair metal and glam rockers, the potheads and hippies, college and indie rockers… from industrial fans to new wavers, surfers to hardcores, gays to straights, dopers to the D&D geeks, and everything in between. It was just a glorious mix of every subcultural group of the time…. And it was their music that was the one thing everyone could agree on.

'Nothing's Shocking' is one of the most solid and unique rock albums ever.
  • Late 80’s and early 90’s was one of the best times for rock music.

This is one of those few bands whose library has truly aged into the finest wine. They sound better than ever.

When I was in college, girls who listened to Jane's Addiction were A LOT more fun than the ones who didn't.
  • COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN!!!!!!!!!!! one of the best opening lines to any rock song from that time.

...and kids this is exactly what a Jane's show looked like when I saw em in '88. As a 20 year old metal head I thought this was like Aerosmith on acid. I saw them at the Metropol in Pittsburgh. Coolest thing was the pit would slow down with the pace of the songs, like everyone was moshing in slow motion. Then it would speed back up as soon as the songs got faster. If you're 20 years old right now as we speak, go find something like this. You'll be 53 years old someday too, and it rocks to have great memories!
  • I still remember my 7th grade english teacher playing this for the class when we asked him what his favorite song was. What a kick ass teacher, right?
  • I still remember sitting in the backseat of my friend's car in early '89 when the guy riding shotgun put this tape in. We were metalheads (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer) and I was completely blown away. This one album changed how I looked at music to this day ranks as my all time favorite album. It's absolutely perfect.
  • Amazing band!! Perry's vocals, Eric's incredible bass lines, Steven's tribal drumming and Dave's playing were something very unique and special at that time. Really, a band that cannot be duplicated! Long live Janes Addiction!
  • Some music is for the body. Some for the mind. Some for the soul. But Jane's addiction"s music has all three of those dials turned up to ten!
  • Can't believe this song is over 30 years old... I can't believe I'm in my 40's

I still remember (1989) being in gym class & walking up to this kid who played. The only stuff he had ever listened to were bands like Quiet Riot, Ratt, Motley Crue, Metallica etc,. I handed him my portable CD player headphones and then got this cheshire cat grin on my face & said listen to this! It was unbelievable watching his facial expression! After about 30 seconds his mind was blown! He looked at me and said what is this?! Mountain Song by Janes Addiction. Ah the good old days!
  • Damn Navarro's guitar sound mixed with Farrell's voice is this band. One of the best guitar/singer combos ever.

The 1980s were bananas. Such a weird, distorted, beautiful and scary time. What a band.
  • @NickBagel
Perry Farrell was an animal. That hair is awesome, and the vocal solo at the end is sick.
  • @hellovanite
Before bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam there was Janes Addiction. Ahead on the curve by a long way

In the 90's this was the new spiritual music that brought people together in a positive way. Most 90's shows were amazing. No worries about idiots with emotional issues that wield guns and cry about there phones taken away
