We’ve looked at Splatoon, which might need another look at soon, and The Legend of Zelda. But now, we’re going to take a look at the world of Disturbing Super Mario Analog Horror. In this video, we take a look at a series by Greenio called "SM64: CLASSIFIED", and a puzzling video by Xploshi called "Luigi Personality Quiz"

Regarding the MKUltra comment I made, I know that the Ultra64 was the prototype name for the Nintendo 64. I wanted to make a small link between the coincidence of MKUltra's psychological themes and the psychological themes going on in SM64: Classified, and surrounding the myths & legends of Super Mario 64. I hope that clears things up. It doesn't seem like I got that point across very well in the video XD

If I had a quarter for every time an analog horror series based on an old 3D game had themes of loss and moving on, I'd have a lot of quarters and I don't think I could bring myself to spend them.

Really lovely analysis, great job :] Just wanna add that the "creepy ambience" that pops up in Epilogue at the beginning is actually just the muffled shower sound loop LOL, I intended it to be more of a hint as to what was in the locked room than anything particularly foreboding.

the animated segment in the finale where Luigi is consoling Mario kinda hits for some reason, probably because of what we're being shown before it plays. This was a great analog series

At 2:54, I noticed the 6 in 64 blinking by itself 3 times really quick. I thought that was a nice detail for something of this nature.

We really went from an hour long dive into a really interesting and well executed analog horror to Luigi Personality Quiz.

The most unbelievable part of this whole story is how everybody involved speaks English instead of Japanese, as the game was still in development by Nintendo and would not be developed by programmers speaking English. The moment they added Jim and Bill, suspension of disbelief went out the window.

45:24 Slow down and watch luigi doing the stanky leg in the background like a boss
  • The dev teams being American in this series and in the Kirby analog series is funny, because Mario and Kirby are both so quintessentially Japanese that it makes me wonder if Nintendo is supposed to be an American company in the alternate universes these series take place in?

I lost it at "That's rough buddy" about the virtual boy!

I think the picture of Mario floating to the sun is based off the story of icarus. Where he flies too close to the sun against his uncle's wishes, causing him to fall and die.

I love the more recent idea of the relationship between the brothers being so incredibly strong. It's really heart warming and fitting for the two
  • @BX56_YT
6:57 The screaming you hear is actually the screams of a zombie from Half Life 2. I recognized it right away.
  • @Limb00.
this is such a unique analog horror no jump scares no unnecessary gore. just plain sadness and emptiness even the ai after being hurt for years didn't seem to have any ill will it just wanted to be free and i find that even scarier than a rouge ai.
  • I looked at the picture that you said was Mario in disbelief of seeing Luigi dead, and it actually is a picture of a child and as it turns into a picture of Mario, you can hear a child crying, so I think it's telling the story of a child that was in a coma being told to wake up, possibly by his family or the doctors.
  • 58:09 I had this video in the background and the music in this part activated my brain. I am 98% certain that the music is a portion of the song “the mind electric” that was reversed/distorted. To be specific it sounds most like a the last lines of the song that has been distorted: “When it grows bright, the particles start to marvel having made it through the night. Never the ponder, wether electric calming if you look at it right” Not sure it means anything, but I think it’s interesting (and it’s also one of my favourite songs so im happy to see it recognised)

1:02:39 Luigi Personality Quiz: May cause organ failure- "What is my favorite color? Well this IS a Luigi quiz so I'll say green- oh hey my kidneys just shut down." *Sounds of body hitting the floor

What’s funny about the luigi personality test video is it could easily pass as an actual early computer web game in real life.
