  • Thanks to Milanote for sponsoring this video! Sign up for free and start your next creative project: milanote.com/wholesomesimon0723 This next chapter is definitely a daunting one. I think there's this romanticized image of the "college dropout" where you see entrepreneurs diving headfirst into the unknown with 0 doubt in their mind. I'm not sure if it's just me, or how I was raised, but even though I know this decision was the right one - some days I find myself questioning my own abilities and confidence. I guess I'll continue leaning on you guys, on the community I'm building, and have hope that if I follow the direction that my heart is set on - things will work out in ways I couldn't ever see coming. I'm currently writing this during my first trip to Europe, have no idea when or where the next story is, but grateful that you're here yuhhhhdeee. Thanks to everyone who supported the KIW release and is reading this <3 so much love :) -Simon

If there’s one thing I learned from leaving college it’s that you’re often gonna find yourself wanting to go back. During times of uncertainty, doubt and fear, you’re gonna feel like whatever you’re doing is wrong or that you’ll fail or that you’re not good enough or school was the correct decision, but I’ve realized that these thoughts are just there to deter you from actually achieving what’s best for you and only you. We’ve been programmed to believe that the steps we’ve taken, the plan we’ve followed for our entire lives, is correct, when actuality there isn’t a “correct” plan, at least not one that is universal. College is a unique experience and it will teach you a lot, but if you’re going because it’s expected out of you or because you’re scared of any other outcome, you’re going to find yourself stuck and it’s a horrible feeling to have. I hope that everyone can find their way and are satisfied with their outcomes in a year let alone for the rest of our lives :)

I got the push to drop out of college when one of my professors encouraged us to drop out and pursue a creative path if it was our true passion. So I did. Hearing an academic teacher say that college isn't for everyone and that what truly matters is passion and fulfillment was my "wow" moment.
  • I dropped out of law school in year 4. Realised being a lawyer was going to suck. I did a bunch of jobs for 2 years, then retrained as a jeweler, then a web developer, then a marketer. With no degree, I have been the Head of Marketing for many large companies and now work as a consultant. A degree is not everything.
  • College can be an amazing experience but if you already know it not what you want or need then it can make you feel trapped. Glad you picked what you thought what would be best for you and your dreams
  • You learn more from the people around you than you do in school. Wish you the best!

I dropped out of a prestigious university and I just sent my withdrawal form 30 minutes ago. I feel kinda disappointed in myself. I’ve always wanted to experience the typical university life when I was younger. Three months in, it felt like what I was studying wasn’t for me. No doubt, the people were great, campus life was vibing but something just felt incredibly off. In the weeks leading up to this, I was so anxious and afraid that it is the biggest mistake of my life. But I know that what done is done and I just have to give myself courage to move forward. Surround myself with the people who love me and just trust that everything will work itself out eventually. If someone out there is watching this, I hope you find the courage to believe in yourself ❤️

I dropped out of college 4 years ago and till now I'm looking for this GREATNESS and I had this notion of thinking that I need to impress my family by doing GREAT things because I need to prove myself that I can do better in life when I drop out in college. Turns out it's not that easy and because of the fear of failure I kept running away from LIFE, I avoid pain and discomfort and that's the very reason I didn't progress much from where I was till last year. But I'm proud to say that this year I am progressing, I'm embracing the adversity, the discomfort, the pain and disappointments that comes along with chasing what I wanted to have in my life, it may be hard but I LOVE IT. I love the growth and Simon you are on your own path now--it will be hard. There's no set path for success, there's no formula but keep doing what you know what's right, use your fear as a navigator because that FEAR will lead to growth. Keep on creating man, you inspire me.

as a college drop out myself, it was probably the best decision I made since I didn't see myself in that career and college. Thankfully I had supportive people around me who helped me realize it was the safest decision to make for my happiness. love to everyone!

I am going through the same thing and I found so much solidarity in this video. I’m also the child of high achieving immigrants who decided this spring to drop out of college. I haven’t heard people talk about the blow that confidence and self assurance take when this choice is made. It’s major and in my experience it caused a complete upheaval of my mental state. Working through the anxiety, fear, and self doubt that choosing to pave your own path brings up is so challenging, but I believe in us. Thanks for sharing man!

I dropped out of uni after 3 months. I realised that the only reason I went was for everyone around me instead of myself so decided change that and officially be classed as a dropout which is what my family commonly refers to me as. As much as it hurts when your family are disappointed you need to do what you want to do.

As someone who's been struggling in university for years I can only support your decision, you know where you're going and have a plan on how to get there, that more than most of the students I know
