DeWine speaks out against constitutional amendment on November ballot

The amendment aims to replace the current Ohio Redistricting Commission, made up of three statewide officeholders and four state lawmakers, with an independent body.

    Ohioans overwhelmingly voted in favor of ending gerrymandering in 2015 and 2018. The courts said no to 7 unfair map attempts. Keep politicians from both sides away from this process and we have a good chance of getting what we voted for the first 2 times.

    One idea: (1) Determine the number of congressman in a state based on votes cast for a party. (2) Create two maps of the state, one for Democrat, one for Republican. The whole state is covered twice, once by each party. (3) Divide those individual maps into congressional seats. The result is that everyone in that state can be represented by either a Republican or a Democrat. More people will have representation in their district. There are probably some issues with this concept, but I wanted to throw the idea out there.

    Take it out of the hands of the legislature and make it simple. You use math to draw the districts with a 50/50 split each of both parties. If you want independents to vote for your guy, he better have policies, they can support
