Ten years ago this week, Barack Obama was inaugurated as the country’s first African-American president. On Jan. 20, 2009, 1.8 million people descended on Washington D.C.’s National Mall to see the 44th president being sworn in for his first term. In freezing temperatures, Inside Edition spoke with many ticketed visitors who said they had difficulties getting into the event as thousands sought to witness history. #InsideEdition

I was 17 and a senior in high school when Obama was inaugurated. I was in English class and our teacher was interrupted by another teacher saying the inauguration was happening. She took us to the teacher's lounge and we watched alongside other classes in the room as Obama was inaugurated. I still have the newspaper from that day.

Lol, my science teacher was in the crowd. He stood there from midnight till night time, he couldn't walk properly for a few days. At least he witnessed history.

I can't even imagine Trump acting the same with Biden as Bush did with Obama. edit: turns out I was right, Trump didn't even come to the inauguration

even if Obama wasn’t perfect in some people’s eyes, he was how a real president should be. Respectful, self aware and a genuinely kind person.
