"Um you tried to kill yourself dude, and that's not cool" The most genuine thing Roman has ever said to his brother

Connor’s the only member of the family who tries to stay out of all the backstabbing, and they repay him by treating him like a second class Roy

Connor genuinely cares for his half-siblings and father. After all he was the only father figure they ever had.

Connor's rant is so justified and satisfying to see unfold. What a lovable character.
  • Notice how when Shiv and Roman were talking, he mostly dismisses them. But when Connor speaks, he actually backs down a bit. I love watching the unspoken dynamic and hierarchy of the siblings.

I like how connor doesn't have to package what he says with irony or sarcasm.

This is such a good scene for what it says about their dynamic as siblings. In most cases, Kendall is the one who has to play the big brother role to Roman and Shiv, but it’s easy to forget that he’s Connor’s baby brother, and you see how Connor views Kendall specifically with such a combination of frustration, resentment, protectiveness and complete love, the same way Kendall views Roman and Shiv deep down. Like, imagine being Connor - you’re 15 years old and your dad has a baby with his new wife, and you watch that baby grow up, being a surrogate father to him in a lot of ways. Imagine how hard it must be to balance those two feelings of a) being heartbroken that your little brother is suicidal (“I love you straight up” - and it’s true) and b) being heartbroken that his own experience of being a big brother has made him patronise you and take you for granted. Alan Ruck nails this scene man

It’s so sad that when they say they love him, Ken’s own response is: “what’s the angle?”

There's an age gap between Roman and Shiv to Kendall and Connor. At Ken's bday, Shiv/Roman knock on Ken's age. I think this indicates how Connor and Ken see Logan for his true self and a reason why Connor never wanted to be involved in the company. At first I didn't like Connor, no work ethic, and just living off his family's wealth..but now I see him gladly pursuing his own interests. And why should he fight to work for his absent father? Why not take advantage of Logan and just do your own thing? Connor even fulfilled Logan's role as a father figure a few times (Roman's fishing trip and the camping trip where he pooped himself). Even though Connor is portrayed as delusional, he might be the only sibling who clearly understands the toxicity of the family.

i hate how they always treat conner because he genuinely seems to care about them, out of all the siblings he’s the least fucked up one
  • @pennystocklocks
Connor: I don't write nothin' down, so I'll keep this short and sweet. You're week.. You're outta control. And you've become an embarrassment to yourself and everybody else.
  • 'We love you' 'What is this? What's the angle?' - Succession in a nutshell lol (been looking for this clip since I saw this comment haha)

This scene struck a nerve with me being in a similar situation to Connor- father remarried and started a new family. This was really well written and in many ways explains and rationalises Connor’s often emotional outbursts. I have to tell you it is a shitty situation when a parent moves on to start a new life but the child unfortunately doesn’t have the power or mechanisms to do the same. You essentially have lost a parent in an emotional and psychological sense. Knowing both the parent and new spouse will never essentially view the same once new siblings come into the picture. Great acting and writing

So now we know that Kendall never listened and still thought of himself as the eldest right to the end.
  • @gor764
"He is him" Only a show like succession can get be laughing at such a pithy line
  • @tenderdecay
got the feeling that connor's had enough of getting the shittiest end of both sticks with his father and siblings this season. at the very least, he tried to be there for all of them despite how they treat him. good for him!
  • I love how Kendall tells everyone else that they need an intervention, but his mimic and intonation while pointing on Roman is like "And you definitely most of all!" xD

"I'm here for your mom's wedding and I proposed to my fiance... and noone has said 'congratulations'... noone..." - Conner Roy (the eldest son)
