Should Hytale be Free to Play or Pay to Play?

Publicado 2024-08-01
The pros and cons of Hytale choosing to monetize in the two most common methods. If you want me to go away from this sort of thing and shift back into game related videos don't hesitate to let me know.

I wouldn't mind to pay 60-70 dollar if there is no micro transactions...

paid mods would be by far the worst and greediest idea

Even if it is free or not free, it is important that it be downloaded for me yet. They have not decided when the game will be released

It will be free since riot handles it and its their usual strategy that's why their games are always staying popular...also revenue will be selling cosmetic items, packs, or asking modders and item makers to pay for the service to sell it to others by money or something grindable or rewarded everyday like how league works with chest and keys or packs or roblox with ugc items or player made items

I feel like since they partner up with "Roit Games", and they wanted to wait until the game was a done or finish project. It being a Pay to play, makes more sense to me. I would say make it Cost $40 to buy and play the game. Since if its free to play. I don't see the point of how they would make money, since you could just add mods to the game with ease. (Edit: After you pay once to play the Game. I could see a few pre made pack and skins/texture mods to purchase in game. For those who dont want to work on custom their own avatar. Like how Minecraft does with the console versions. ) (Of course you could just wait until fan make Free Skins & mods texture to the game later on.)

F2p model seems is instant skip, no matter how good. Minecraft is so much better, where you buy it and can mod it.
  • I feel like making it paid but cheap would be good, but i wouldnt mind free

brother, this game has been in production for YEARS. i would be willing to pay a AAA price tag just to A) pay the amazing dev team that worked on this project B) the funds would let them update and make dlc for the game C) no microtransactions for such a high price tag
  • In reguards to the 40$ mobile game problem, an easy fix would be having pc&console accounts be able to be signed into on any platform while mobile accounts are locked to mobile unless they pay a 30$ upgrade
  • @GENOorGEN
$10-$30 would be good "as long as its adjusted for other regions currencies"
  • Id be happy to pay £60~ for this game So long as the base adventure mode does not have any paid content or pay to avoid grind content Im firmly against needing to pay for playing on servers, however paying for cosmetics, or to join tournaments or something im fine for it

I would be very disappointed if it was Free to Play.

With kwebecs new video it stating that hytale will only release with the first 3 zones, and putting the fourth one off as future content, saying it has a "full games" worth of content, i feel as if its very likely that they will have a dlc type of business model, i would love it if they instead had these updates as free, like Minecraft does, but honestly it just makes sense to do it, especially if they decide not to take a big cut from the revenue their moddeds make.

The moment it becomes F2P the likeliness of always-online, battlepasses, and vanguard for anti-cheat just increases in majority. Not once have I seen a F2P that isn't heavily monetized. A game that you buy once, easily/freely moddable, and playable offline will always be better. That's how Minecraft survived. And the fact is, that's what they're competing against. But then again, it wouldn't matter. They have to please Riot, regardless of what the consumer feels. Sales matter more. There's no such thing as "Riot has no control". They definitely do. Nothing is given free, saying otherwise is just gullible.

in my opinion paid mods would ruin the modding side of the game, for the simple reason that modpacks would be unimaginably expensive. imagine if mods were payed in java edition we would have never had modpacks like RLcraft, Pixelmon, Skyfactory, All the mods, and so many more. paid mods would also imply u cant just take somebodies mod and modify it for a modpack because their would need to be some sort of protection against plagiarizing (if u could modify a mod easily u could probably copy it easily). in simple terms the modding side of minecraft thrives because the mods are free. and i would like to see an example of a thriving modding community where the mods are monetized.

if they launch the game, will be already a win

the fact people think "free to play" is real is crazy to me it's never free to play because you WILL have to pay someway or another reality is the following pay to play usually offers little long term content with a full base game to enjoy (unless they do DLC'S) free to play (NEEDS REVENUE so it wont be free) will have long term contents and releases but will cost more money over the years
  • @plaguesquid3371
I wonder if it'll have a kernel anticheat since it's partenered with riot, would suck
  • If game will cost for max 40 euros I'm okay with that, everything more then that I'm not willing to pay. But I'm more for pay to play than for play4free
  • @nitram2962
I would 100% pay for the game instead of having mods locked behind pay walls and DLC updates.
