Top Medical Body Reveals Ideal Indian Diet | Vantage with Palki Sharma

India's top medical body, the Indian Council of Medical Research, has updated its dietary suggestions for Indians. The report claims that around 56% of all diseases in India are linked to diet. ICMR has outlined 17 guidelines including cutting down on salt, limiting consumption of oil, staying away from protein supplements and reading product labels to make healthy choices. The diet plan has been released at a time when Indian food products are being accused of "high contamination" abroad. Multiple Indian spice products have been banned in foreign markets like Singapore and Hong Kong. How did these products pass India's quality checks? Why is the Indian food safety regulator failing? Palki Sharma tells you.

  • Correction 2:30 needs to be 300 milligrams not 300 grams of caffeine, @Firstpost Please Correct this before someone consumes 300 grams of caffeine and dies of a heart attack

Main problem with Indian diet is high carbs and low protein… vegiterian diet is difficult to meet minimum protein needs
  • @vedantsingh6624
Biggest issue is the fking palm oil. Why the hell do we keep on importing that garbage. It should be banned . This FSSAI god knows how many times does it give lap dance to these corps
  • @dgokp
    Fssai is in stone age...
  • Due to the low Protein diet our generation is also losing their ideal height growth. This makes the majority of Indians shorter than the rest of the world.

2000 calories per day for a couch potato or for an IT guy or a woman journalist or a school kid or a farmer or an athlete - a chess grand master or a footballer?
  • @nikhil_06_
The ICMR should also notify this to the FSSAI to ensure us Indians are consuming unadulterated food.

I personally feel the Indian diet is too carb heavy. That's why i have stopped eating roti & rice altogether and switched to one pot meals like millet khichdi, which contains millet, dal, paneer, green leafy veg, ghee...with minimal spices. I find it easy to touch all food groups like this.
