Until gift cards are treated like blank checks and held in a secure location at the store, this type of theft will continue to occur.

A fifty dollar bill in a Christmas card, personally delivered and you don't have to worry.

Gift cards need to go behind the counter and be logged.

Retailers need to do what Costco does in regards to selling these gifts cards: you take to the cash register a piece of cardboard of the gift card that you want to purchase and they’ll bring the gift card out from this storage space that no customers have no access to.

Lock the cards up with a key or put behind registers. Not out in open

My interest in gift card scams peaked when my online scammer bf asked me for one. I got rid of him,but still wondered what his exact scam was. The gift cards are untraceable. Wow

This answer, everyone questions, this is a INSIDE JOB because this is time-consuming. The registers are facing the cards. They need to be locked up in a glass case. I will never buy any again.

It is amazing to me that anyone steals at all. The pain caused by such actions lasts a lifetime. I’m still sore about my Schwinn bicycle being stolen when I was a child 52 years ago. Stealing is evil plain and simple.

Solution ??? Make sellers keep them @ Customer Service to be issued out from one secure location, then IF the same issue arises then LEO's know how to trace back, either theif was IN house or dome BEFORE the seller got the cards from producer or in between

Easy. Make gift cards go by way of the dinosaur and give cash or gift certificates on tamper and copy proof paper. And putting the burden of checking for tampering on the customers? That needs to stop.

From what I've heard about Wal-Mart today , my shopping there will cease! Please people don't buy gift cards there or anywhere if they are not in a locked cabinet!!!
