After last week's video, many questions were raised about survivability and the best choices for holding objectives. Some of this video should be pretty interesting and I hope it answers some thoughts and questions you might have about Bladeguard, Terminators, Centurions, Gravis marines and more!

Leave a comment on your thoughts and thanks for watching!

Great video man! Did you factor in the bgv’s reroll 1’s to invulnerable saves in the fight phase for the melee weapons?
  • @sketchpledge2653
I'm glad the terminators are doing well, they are just such a cool model
  • As someone who plays 50% of his games against competitive Necron lists my first thoughts are always ‘yeah but C’tan’ . Heavy infantry might actually be the answer as C’tan just jump around the board killing Tanks for fun.

This video is really good. One thing slides cant show though is that not all points are spent equally. I have a smaller points budget for guarding my back field than say murder charging the side objectives. It makes heavy ints even better than the raw points show. Not only are they as tough as terminators, they are also 'in budget' for their role.

Termis also a very good armour of contempt option, especially if they have cover you can turn AP2 shooting into a 2+ save. Think that is why that guy had the Captain with them in that tournament list, just pop them in cover on an objective with cover, and free AOC every turn (plus free rapid ingress as well). Same then applies to melee, lots of AP1 and AP2 melee weapons, not so much AP3, so AOC on them then even against AP2 melee weapons like power first or bladeguard power swords for example they are saving on 3s. They then do some ok shooting and in SoS they are pretty strong in melee on the charge, you can get 20 S10 power fist hits on the charge, even more attacks with the Captain. Same can apply to the VVs if they get the Captain, free AOC could mean they are saving on 3s more often if you cant get cover.

I am known to have terminator bias and I'm glad they don't actually suck so far in this edition

It occurred to me that Vanguard Vets with a Priest and Jump Captain, in the Vanguard detachment would be pretty interesting. They would S6 on the charge, lethal hits on the charge (in a detachment that has no melee boosting), AP2 from the Priest as well (AP3 for the Captain). Then they would be -1 to hit and always have cover outside 12", then have a 4+ invul and a 5+ FNP, plus access to free AOC, plus you could infiltrate them. Like a full squad of 10 Hellblasters, overcharging, shooting them in the open, would only kill like 2 guys.
  • I think after this video I'll be purchasing some Heavy Intercessors purely for my home objective

Got to watch out for those World Eater glay-vees! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself -it makes me chuckle every time! 😂

I dont play any tournament level play but i have had gnarly success with a ten man term hammme squad.sustained hits 1 from a term librarian and a little plus one to hit from an incusor squad dinking in the shoot phase can really help there hammer swing

I kinda take t4 models like death company Lemartes or 10AI+SP as less fragile glass cannon. They can't tank a lot of dedicated firepower, but they are deadly

I think with the rise of dreadknights after the data slate I would not be supprised to see 2 or 3 dreadknights in most greyknights list (iv been running 2 in mine and working on my 3rd) there big gun is damage 3 and melee weapon d6+1, world eaters damage 3 on 8bound like u have pointed out in your video. Votann have some damage 3 from there thunderkyn, hearthguard bezerkers.. so there is plenty of damage 3 I guess it just depends on if your local meta is using it or not. Very interesting breakdown I may look at running some heavy Intercessors :)
  • Honestly the Librarian is good for 65pts for any standard ish infantry, giving them a 4+ INV and dev wounds on smite overcharge he’s good with some intercessors or hellblasters (Assault intercessors as well potentially although I use mepheston)
  • @djvincon
The thing with heavy Intercessors is that they are very tough, but shoot like sheit. I do find that people dont want to overcommit to a intercessor unit. Making them survive for al long time or soak up all the damage.

Great video John, highlights how bad the DC 6+++ is, it should be at least a 5+++…!! :_Bablack:
