Horse Song (original composition)

Based on traditional Mongolian music. The stringed instrument, called the Morin Khuur, is also called the horse-head fiddle, and it is a two stringed instrument played with a bow. One string is made from male horsehair, and the other is made from female horsehair. The scroll (top part) of the Morin Khuur is modeled after the head of a horse. The guitar instrument is called a Tovshuur. The horse neighing sounds in the song are not meant to be actual horse sounds; Rather amazingly, the horse whinny is a sound that is capable of actually being played and imitated on the Morin Khurr, and in many traditional songs, players will incorporate the horse whinny technique into their playing.

The horse whinny sound is not just there to emulate a horse... That sound can actually be played on the morin khuur (the stringed instrument), and many people incorporate the horse whinny technique into their playing, as horses are an important part of Mongolian culture
