It is funny because even if Yosuga finally showed Asta to understand and how to use his zetten, Yami's been telling and showing Asta how to do it all this time. He thought him how to sense ki. During his fight against Patry, Yami left himself open, and overpowered Patry's attack to caught him off guard. At his arrival in the Vetto fight, he said right then and there that it didnt matter what magic was in front of him because his dimension slash would cut through it. And now, what did Asta do against his first opponent after mastering zetten? He left himself open and waited for the enemy to attack, overpowered Yrul magic attack and caught him completely off guard. Asta's zetten is the simplest of things : attacking is the best defense. When he senses an enemy's ki is about to attack him, since he has anti-magic it actually leaves them open for a riposte.

Yunno when Lucius said Asta was an anomaly, he wasn’t kidding. Even if he killed Asta, events will still hardly pass as he predicts them. Anyone who ever spent time with Asta has the tendency to surpass their limits; limits they never dreamed of having; limits that Lucius never saw them have in the future, because surpassing those limits is something triggered by their individual emotions. And those emotions may have been created by the solution Lucius came up with to solve the anomaly situation, which is getting rid of Asta. Now the solution is becoming his undoing: first Asta didn’t really die and second, almost every ally of Asta have unlocked the ability to surpass limits they never even dreamed they could reach after being told that Asta’s dead. Lucius being overly confident in his solution never really followed up and he’s now starting realize whats going on. The story is at a very interesting point. Can’t wait to see what Tabata does next.
