That was very helpful. I'm a indie hip-hop artist and this just put in a better perspective with reaching out to curators.

This is awesome! I found your stuff on tik tok and I’ve been loving everything you put out!!
  • Thank you so much for all these beautiful jewels 💎 I’m definitely taking heed and using this for my research
  • @nv8505
WOW, so playlist curators are the DJ's of streaming services now?😇
  • @SophLilly
This is so helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. It's very interesting to hear this process from the perspective of the curator.  The bad examples remind me of going into a job interview without researching the company, interviewer, and/or the role you're applying for :D

Hi Kelsie!! I go by KC, but my independent artist name I go by is Da Killa KC. I'm new to even knowing curators were not just algorithmicly decided. I love how genuinely you explained this and I love more you are human that actually personally connects to the playlists you create!! I agree there needs to be more real connection so I truly appreciate what you explained you do and for giving that knowledge back to us smaller indies. Much love!!

I so love your hair! Thank you for demystifying playlist adds. I was so confused. I have a track with a cowriter that's getting a bunch of plays and is on a handful of playlists but all of my other tracks get no plays. Now I understand why and how I've made a whole 24$ on 1 track 😹
  • This was incredibly helpful and you seem like such a sweet person :) thanks for taking the time to explain for smaller artists like me <3 also I love your hair!!
  • this is sooooo helpful! It's so important to do your research and submit to curators that you actually connect with musically :) thanks for creating content to help small artists

Playlisters need to learn Pro-L2 to gently even out the crazy peaks and valleys in volume that make their playlists hard to enjoy. Spotifys volume automation is a joke and that’s a whole discussion about dynamic range we don’t need to have. I think it’s possible that playlists will not be going away. They are going to be around for years. This will organically lead to playlisters becoming sort’ve like a second mastering engineer. No music curators care and I’ve heard myself on enough college radio to know they don’t care either. Mastering engineers aren’t needed these days as much but artists still need someone to make sure their track isn’t 6 db quieter than the one next to it. I’ve literally seen zero people talk about this ever so I’d like to hear your thoughts.

Awesome I’m a new Artist trying to get my music heard to others maybe you can listen to it and let me know your input and put it on a playlist
  • @22rapper
This method no good all are asking for 200 dollars to be listed for few months aganist policy

seems like just listening to the song itself is more important than reading the email. You're a curator, they're an artist. Why should they have a personal connection to you? either you'd like to add the song or you don't
