    I think the most interesting aspect of this footage is how you get to see the gymnasts' faces so up-close... Shushunova had a very rare eye colour, Shevchenko was beautiful, and Boguinskaya's face was one of the most exotic I've ever seen...

    USSR, Romania, and East Germany--clearly the big three in gymnastics at that time. Even today Russia and Romania still have some of the best training programs in the world for this sport.  On behalf of the United States of America, hats off to all three of these teams.

    Я прекрасно помню эту Олимпиаду. Интрига была до самого конца. Лена Шушунова закрывала соревнования - это были вольные упражнения. Её "Цыганочка" не оставила шансов. соперникам. 10 баллов! Браво Елене Шушуновой, Светлане Богинской и всем нашим девушкам!
