One of those games where the subtle differences between the SNES and Genesis home console editions result in one game being good, and one game being blah. Thanks to Anthony for the request via Patreon.

  • i always love the build up in your videos. self explaining title, an intro on why you chose this game and version, first impression review, a bit info, a single joke to fresh it up (without being a bad comedian as many other yt'ers) a bit more in depth info on why you have this verdict...without boring bits and bytes and pixels add ups.... and on top of it we all get a great rest of our day!… i really like the style best of all retro gaming channels. please keep the channel going. love it so much.
  • Well, the short version for why the Genesis saw a lot of ports from the Amiga and Atari ST is that they all shared the same CPU, the Motorola M68000. So that made it easier to do Genesis ports, compared to the SNES which had totally different hardware. Plus the M68000 was super-common in the 80s, so it was easy to find programmers with experience with it. (IMO, this is why the Genesis had such a strong lineup of third party titles even in its first year. It was easy for existing US and European computer games shops to jump into developing for it, compared the competition.)

Ohh I remember my dad buying this game as a gift. Thanks for bringing back the awsome memories of childhood

Retro core did a battle of the ports on this game back in July and from the looks of it, the Sega CD version was even better. Plays like the Genesis version but tons more content, levels and fully CD soundtrack.

My grandmother is the one that got me in the video games. She got really into pong when it came out and always liked playing video games. It took her like two years to beat this game. When I was a kid, we stayed up one time till like two in the morning, playing it, one of my best memories

I always have a great rest of my day whenever SNESDrunk releases a SEGADrunk video.

I owned the Sega Game Gear version. Was one of my more favorite games back then.

Randomly woke up early before my alarm. Saw the notification. Clicked. Enjoyed your amazing video. Now.... back to bed.

Great video. I love seeing videos of all the games that I would stare at in the rental store has a kid but not actually rent. It feels like most of the time when you make a new video I can remember which rental store it was in.

Bollocks I just said Amiga 5 times and had an Amiga 3000 land on my head. That hurt 😂
  • @fivestringpat
This was one of my only Sega games as a kid. Loved it! I had this, hockey, baseball, and Sonic.

I've been watching your videos every time you upload for a few months and your reviews are really great and well constructed with good descriptions of games and you seem to be fair with the games if that makes sense, also wishing us a good day at the end of your videos is a nice touch, hope you have a good rest of your day too!

I love those days where we played whatever game happened to be available at the time and played it to death. The past 10+ years of having thousands of emulators makes what should be a simple decision so incredibly difficult.

We had the whole Sega vs. Nintendo thing here too, Drunk. It's not like the Amiga replaced them. It was just an additional option in the 16-bit era. It started fading out around 93-94, though, while the SNES and Mega Drive were still going strong.
  • @JReed7560
Never played this game myself, but I remember the ads in all my comics back then.
  • @ArcaneAzmadi
It's funny, y'know, the main thing I've gained from watching your reviews is a new appreciation for the technical power of the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. I was a Nintendo kid growing up in the console wars (like you) so for literal decades I'd laboured under the impression that the SNES was just straight-up a better console than the Genesis and the only reason you'd want to get a Genesis rather than a SNES was misguided brand loyalty, the exclusive titles and the uncensored blood in Mortal Kombat (a residual bias from the time when Nintendo and Sega fans hated each other with a passionate loathing). Until I watched your videos I never really grasped that there were games that WERE better on the Genesis than the SNES, or that there was anything the Genesis did better than the SNES.

A classic case of a game I loved as a kid when we would rent it from Blockbuster, but just could not stand as an adult. Though all of my experience is with the SNES port, so maybe I will give the Genesis version a try.

I really enjoyed this video for some reason. I felt like he was talking to me in this one, instead of it feeling like an essay. Good work!
