Based on Joel Bakan’s bestseller The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, this 26-award-winning documentary explores a corporation’s inner workings, curious history, controversial impacts and possible futures. One hundred and fifty years ago, a corporation was a relatively insignificant entity. Today, it is a vivid, dramatic, and pervasive presence in all our lives. Like the Church, the Monarchy and the Communist Party in other times and places, a corporation is today’s dominant institution. Charting the rise of such an institution aimed at achieving specific economic goals, the documentary also recounts victories against this apparently invincible force.

What happens when you place Quantity over Quality. What happens when you place Multinational Corporations over Local, Family and Regional Business. What happens when you place Profit over People, and you let Marketing Firms, Tech Companies, Data Consultants, Lobbyists and Contractors take over your Government. This is what you have and what has lead up to the Dystopian Nightmare we have in the 2020's. Corporations aren't bad, but they become bad if left unregulated.

Today I was boasting about this movie and wanted to show it to a German friend. I was a bit flabbergasted that no subtitles are available to a documentary 20 years old. This is a treasure trove even for people with hearing impairment and people that cannot listen to fluent English.

If the government considers a corporation a person, then how is lobbying legal? If I went to Washington and said I give you 50k to get a certain business license then I go to jail for bribing a public official.

Exciting, how has it been 20 years! So much work to still be done.

A few years ago I wanted to try and reduce my household waste. One of the things I did was to buy more food in bulk. I ended up redoing my pantry so that everything is kept in glass jars which i labeled. The point I wish to make is the difference it makes to not have all the packaging and branding in your face. It has an impact on my two young children for sure. In many ways. Thought of that watching this documentary.

Its always comes down to MOE (Money over everything) wit that comes power n control. We have all been ingrained to think of ourselves first over others. If we can train to look out for others over ourselves, then ourselves will b taken care of since everyone else is looking out for u, since ur also looking out for them.
