The Dreamcast didn't fail. We failed the Dreamcast.

I worked at GameStop from 1999 until 2004, and it really was an amazing time for gaming. Thanks for this video. It's inspired me to pull my Dreamcast out of the garage and fire it up

Revisiting this video years later, you realize: Norman's channel has had a SERIOUS glow-up in the past 4-5 years. Clear evidence of passion and dedication to your content and your brand. #Respect

RIP Dreamcast. Long Live SEGA. My generation of gamers never knew how good they had it till it was gone. 1998-2001.
  • The story of the dreamcast still breaks my heart... That system was way ahead of its time...

"I've been accused of being a Nintendo fan-boy." Intro credits all Nintendo games. Music from Smash Bros. Has giant "WORLD OF NINTENDO" sign on wall.

Marketing failed. I didn't know most of these perks and internet service.

Dad: Where is Dreamcast son? Son: Puts his hand on his heart. Dad: Damn straight.
  • It's weird to think that Dreamcast still sold more systems than the Wii U.

I love these older videos. They're rough compared to your newer stuff, but I'm glad they're still up. Some people are embarrassed by their earlier work, but it's a necessary part of the journey, so it's cool to see.

Man my fondest gaming memories were with the Dreamcast. I was 14 when I got one for Christmas with Shenmue’, Crazy Taxi, Sonic The Hedgehog and Resident Evil: Code Veronica. I miss those days soooo very much.

I remember back when it was discontinued. My older brother was a hard core Sega fan. He'd drunk the kool aid and had bought everything Sega put out, even the weird 32x thing Sega made for the Genesis He was heartbroken when he read the news about it being discontinued. I think by that time I had switched from gaming consoles to pc gaming. I was hooked on Quake and other fps games and online gaming and mmos. But Sega was one helluva company. they made some of the best games ever.
  • I just remembered what a game changer the ps2 having a DVD player was. At that time DVD players were incredibly rare in lower income homes. I dont think my family had a dvd player for another 2 years or so. My mom remembered the glory days of nintendo and got me a gamecube not long after launch but it was years after that that we finally got a dvd player. I had friends with more money who had ps2s and I remember being blown away by the dvd players that these kids had in their rooms when we didnt have one in the living room. The ps2 is the best selling console of all time and I think the dvd player along with its release window is largely responsible for that. Sure xbox had one too but it came much later.

Despite being cheesy, the part where you decided to play Dreamcast instead of the PS2, I got a bit teary eyed. lol.
  • @Skyerzen
I loved my dreamcast. I really did. I played it sooooo much and remember staring at it while it was off. I loved it loved it loved it.
  • @NJHS92
the ending got me a little emotional when you picked up the dreamcast instead of the ps2
  • I had a Dreamcast as a kid and so many great games for it. Soul Caliber, Jet Grind Radio, Crazy Taxi, and the most intense multiplayer game ever: Chu Chu Rocket. Such a great system
  • One of the best boot ups in history love the dreamcast forever, feels like an home arcade!!!!
