I had a standard poodle named Ajax who saved my life. My roommate accidentally knocked over a oil lamp in the basement and it set fire to everything. he started barking and whining and he grabbed my hand in his mouth not hard or anything and led me to the door. He saved my life. He lived to be ten. He was my best friend.

The Poodle is the ultimate multi-purpose dog! -Smart like a Collie. -Friendly like a Labrador Retriever. -Patient like an Irish wolfhound. -Energetic like a Boxer. -Enjoys training as much as German Shepherd does. -Stamina like a Greyhound. -They can compete with all other breeds when it comes to retrieving (It´s more or less bred into their genoma) -Can be as lazy as their masters when needs arise. -Bonus: They don´t shed!

I really hate how pop culture has made Poodles look like spoiled brats dogs. They are so fun loving and smart!

I have a miniature black poodle named Armani. He's like a dissaproving mother in law - he's alway giving me this "oh god why are you doing that" look and sometimes he sighs really loud like I'm the most annoying thing ever. He barks like a madman if he hears the slightest noise at the front door and is obsessed with Ball - a two year old tennis ball that will die soon, if it's ripping skin is anything to go by. He's like, smart and stuff, but too smart for his own good. He learns everything so well he finds loopholes. He despises peeing on anything other than fresh, fluffy grass and must sleep pressed up against your face, and if you dare move him he'll gape at you in shock that you'd do such a thing until you put him back. He knows when he has a girly haircut and walks with his head hung down until he starts to feel hair again, hence why he's always super fluffy with no special cut or shaved area. He's just... fluff. I have a love-hate relationship with him.
  • I have poodles. Before I had them I was ignorant and believed they were a foo foo dog. Boy, was I wrong. They are incredibly intelligent. I have to spell words around my boy because he basically understands English. He also loves to fetch and play. He's also very loving and cuddly. Poodles are fucking awesome. And thankfully my ex gf is a groomer and we are still friends. So she saves me a lot of money.

My Standard poodle isn't a hunting dog, however she is one heck of a retriever. She can swim for hours. When we go camping, she'll go out swimming and bring back fish lol She's also not afraid of bears and has chased away black bears before. Standard poodles are remarkable. They have a personality of a golden retriever, the athleticism of a doberman, and the intelligent higher of that of a german shepherd. They're so underrated. I shave mine during the summer, and then during the winter I let her get real fluffy. No clips, just big giant fluff ball. People assume she's a doodle since I don't give her those ugly clips. She has a deep bark too and is protective. She's turning 8 years old and acts like a pup. She can run for miles, likes to play ball and can swim for hours. Poodles are completely underrated since people think they're foofoo dogs. SMH

I think poodles look better without the cut, the cut makes them mpre unattractive in my opinion. I like fluffy dogs to be fluffy all around
  • I love poodles i don't know why people say that they are stupid and ugly. Any dog can be stupid if you don't train them but if you do then they will be SMART.

when i was a kid i thought that this was a sheep with a weird haircut
  • I have a puppy standard poodle 4 months now . I absolutely love her and I love people's reactions because she's feisty . She's not aggressive but also not scared she'll walk up to a barking dog . Play rough and taunt dogs twice her size . Even though she looks like a cute teddybear . She's also smart she knows so many commands already .

My poodle lived to be 15 years old. I lost her last year. When I was little she would go everywhere with me. She loved to swim and get muddy because then she knew she'd have to get a bath. She loved being the center of attention. She was so intelligent, incredibly playful even at the age of 15. The vet was surprised she was still so active and playful, she was definitely a prancer her feet tapped the floor a million times a minute you could tell she was really happy, and she never really had any health problems up until her last year of life when she began to have strokes. And I'm 90% positive that she had developed a cancer of some sort. The hardest thing I ever had to do was make the choice to put her to sleep because even though she still acted similar to how she was when she was a puppy playful. I did notice the deterioration in her health and just visibly when you would look at her, she had lost some weight, if someone else besides myself picked her up she would complain because she couldn't get comfortable. Even though I wanted to be selfish, I didn't want it to get worse, and I couldn't stand the thought of her in pain. So I did what I had to...I still cry about it sometimes. I know it was the right thing to do for her, but I can't help but want for her to be back in my arms again. She was my best friend and the best dog I've ever had.

"Poodle" is misleading when it comes to Standards. However you dress them up, they are not the 'yappers' people think they are.  Thor, my Standard, is 75-pounds, has a loud deep bark, runs 30-mph next to my motorcycle, is great with my children and warm and soft on a cold night.  AND no fur to worry about.  You couldn't ask for a better bread as a family dog.

Best dog I ever had was a standard poodle! he was extremely intelligent, protective, and SO good with babies and other dogs! I miss him so much
  • My toy poodle always prances around she looks like a little sheep leaping like a horse it's the most cutest thing ever
  • @xXxXBE2LAXxXx
I had a toy poodle, and everyone who ever met her loved her. She wasn't stuck-up like most people think, but she was incredibly shy and lovable. She passed away earlier in the year, but we still remember her. The vibes of a true family member never go away.

I love the way Dogs 101 explains everything about the dogs. Even the negative things.
