The toilet is raised because this film uses height and depth to symbolise social class. The Kims live below even the toilet, at the level of sewage.
  • The Parks having sexual role play of what they perceive poor people to be like, leaving underwear everywhere and doing drugs, shows the disconnection. Kinda like how Gucci sells $870 sneakers that purposefully looks dirty.
  • I find it funny that this whole movie could have been avoided if the mom had just said "alright, we'll make sure that your husband is fed and taken care of"
  • Gotta give it to Da-hye, instead of screaming and fainting she's carrying a bleeding grown man on her shoulders. She's pretty hardcore actully and seemingly in love.
  • Another reason why Kevin's "friend" offers him the position as the tutor, is because he doesn't believe that Kevin will cross the line to try and get the girl, because he's poor. He wants to control the situation for his own benefit. If other university tutors would have come and taken a shot at her, they could take it, and he couldn't do anything about it. But his friend, who isn't in school and who's not rich, is perfect for the job. Everything he did was for his own benefit.

I think I’ve watched more Ending Explaineds than actual movies

Anyone realize the painting that the little boy made was of the basement dweller?
  • I was not prepared for the "ghost" flashback scene and it scared me so badly i was terrified they would show it again
  • @Vic-Valentine
lol the scene of the "ghost" sending the boy into a seizure episode almost did the same to me damn man
  • When Kevin found the rock, it floats indicates that the rock is fake as well as the delusional about the luxurious life they are hoping for Edit: and that's also the reason why he didn't die when the man smashed the rock on to Kevin's head
  • the creator of the movie already confirmed the ending of the movie will never happen, the song that plays in the end credit scene talks about how long he will have to work to buy the house.

one thing that stuck to me is when Jessica is told that she would fit into the life of luxury but at the end, she is the only one who would never experience that life

Why isn't anyone talking about when Mr. Park is asked if he loves his wife he's like "yeah you can call it 'love'"?

If only they never let the old housekeeper in.
  • @lawcane
She can't do the dishes because she grew up rich, married rich and has had a life of housekeepers her whole life. She never learned how to boil ramen noodles or wash a glass. She's incredibly naive, but she isn't a drug addict. The 'buy me drugs' line was role play.

i find the whole cake symbol so interesting. the creepy basement dude lost all of his money trying to open a cake shop. he then scared the little boy as he was eating a cake, giving him a seizure. and finally, when he stabs jessica, he's plunged in the face with a cake. i dont know what it all means but THERE'S CLEARLY MEANING THERE

The movie made me cry and realize so much about life.. like damn especially during this time, the rich are all comfortable in their homes while the poor are struggling to survive each day... Makes me realize how lucky I am to be able to live a normal life
