I was cuddling with my cat and she fell asleep. I got up to go do something in the house and she awakened when I was out of the room. She gave the most heart rending cry because she thought she was alone. So after that, I never left the house without waking her up to say goodbye and telling her when I would be home.

I always announce when I’m leaving the house, sometimes I’ll even say “ I’m leaving, today Oliver is in charge.” I have two cats, I give them turns. Lol

I will add another thing to watch for. Living with young children the toilet lid often stays up. I got a new kitten, and like the third night in the house I heard a plop, yep he fell into the toilet. If I hadn’t heard that noise the poor thing would have drown. So, especially with young kittens make sure the lid is down!

I always tell my cat when I'm leaving. She usually sleeps while I'm gone.

Mistake #8 actually happened to us. We weren't out of town either. It was getting caught in a storage closet behind some camping gear. It had been the better part of a day since I had last seen my cat and I was wondering if I was going to find a sick or dead cat, but when I turned that closet light on I heard a weak, forlorn meow and as soon as I moved the sleeping bag he exploded out. Close those closet doors.

If your kitty plays with wires... cover them with a pool noodle. You can unplug wires and run them through a pool noodle or cut the Styrofoam down one length lay the cords inside -- then tape w/ duck tape to re-secure them back into a circle.

In Norway, it is illegal to leave your cat unattended for more than 24 hours. This is not so in the rest of the world? Regardless of what the law in your country says, if you leave your cat for more than a day, get a sitter!!

I hire a cat sitter but she may not know the door was not supposed to be closed...ty so much for this idea/reminder. From now on I will make sure the doors either stay open or the room is closed off.

We have an out only cat flap on our garage. There are lots of places for our cat or neighbours cats to hide. If they get shut in the cat flap gives them a means to exit.

ALSO, BE CAREFUL OF LEAVING DENTAL FLOSS, RIBBON, ETC THEY. can swallow and it ends up in their intestines and causes problems, could be fatal. I used to date a veterinarian and he told me this!

Rural Alaska. During summer 🐈⬛ gets to own her outdoor domain and has accesses inside too.... below 45°, whichever. During winter she makes do inside.

Is why we know the Earth is not flat. Cats haven’t knocked everything over the edge 😂😂

Under some sinks there is a hole big enough for a cat to crawl through. Many cats have become trapped in the walls this way. Please check to see if your sink has that, and if so, block the hole. Remember that cats can get through a hole that looks much too small for their bodies.

No matter how many bowls of water I leave out, my cat only wants to drink from the toilet 😂

Very good advice!! Thanks!! :-)

Another thing to leave your cat with to entertain itself is getting it a catwheel so it can run in it to burn out excess energy, plus getting excerize so it keeps it fit and prevent it from becoming overweight.

my cat snuck into the garage once without us knowing and ended up trapped in there for like 2-3 hours. Poor thing ended up pooping in there, needless to say we check twice before closing that garage door now.

Have u tried using a fountain with running water?!? One of our cats prefers drinking from the dripping faucet but as long as we have running water he'll drink from it, but not still water!
