" I revere this office, but I love my country more" - pure class.

We’re living through history every minute of every day.

I don't think his closest advisors were being completly honest with him. I do understand they care about him and wouldn't of wanted to tell him that, this time, it's likely it couldn't be turned around. Having said that, this is one of the things Democrats should highlight as a fundamental difference between someone like Trump and a man like our President, Joe Biden. We all know it: There is ZERO chance Trump would have ever stepped down for the good of even his party much less the country. DJT cares about his own selfish desires, that's it. He wants revenge on those, like the NY judge and even the jury just doing what they were tasked with, and also his political opponents and those in the media that have mocked him or even just told the truth. And he wants ultimate power, forever. He will never leave this time. Biden earned our repect and gratitude. He is the most powerful person on earth right now, how many people would step away from that? Especially given his amazing record of achievenments it would seem right that he get another four years. Biden on his worst day is better than Trump on his best day, that's a fact. And he has a great team around him. The problem is, even through Trump lied throughout the debate, over and over again, everyone on the planet was looking to see if Biden looked older or got his words confused and, sadly, he did. I know he's still capable but some were worried. So, he gave the country a fighting chance to remain a democracy and real Americans should be grateful that he is such a decent man.

Thanks so much Ari for your historical commentary and honor to President Biden. Yes what President Biden did was very honorable and also very spiritual. Knowing when to move on and passing the baton to VP Kamala Harris! Biden has fulfilled and served his country in an illustrious way. Now that's an honorable and courageous man!😇💘🙏

Yeah, my favorite part is that Vance tried to mock her and just ends up comparing her to George Washington

It’s the office holding more glory than the person

First, he'll lose to a black woman then another black woman's going to throw him in prison! God Bless America!

There's character then there's a character that thought being a reality TV star made you qualified to be POTUS.

George Washington didn't have children, either ... BUT he did have 2 step-children, JD.

Don't know why but tears came into my eyes. I thought the idea of "self sacrifice", duty and love of country had disappeared on January 6, 2021. Instead it lived on and still lives on. May it continue to live on after November.

Ari Melber should be MUCH MUCH more visible on MSNBC. No one breaks down the facts.. understands the law.. and has a way of expressing himself that crosses all boundaries. Curt, retired Navy getting my news online from the Philippines

Totally agree with you. This is the moment I want my children and grandchildren to observe and recognize as an example of patriotism and humility playing out right before their eyes. I pray they will seal it in their heart.

"It is a moment of living history to credit." Yes, Ari. I absolutely agree.
  • Nelson Mandela also refused to run for a second term as president of South Africa at the height of his popularity in 1999.
  • As an American citizen, I am very grateful to President Biden for his 50 plus years of dedicated public service. He is one of the greats!
