John Anderson rides Terrific in the 2011 $175,000 Nexen Derby at the Spruce Meadows National in Calgary on June 12th. Although the end result wasn't what was hoped for, John rode with the RMSJ TV Helmet Camera, and shares the radical view from the saddle of this demanding event with all of the natural obstacles.

  • My favorite thing? Hearing how hard the rider is breathing. I try to explain that riding isn't just sitting there and hanging out. Its a WORKOUT!! 😁 Great video. Love all the treats he's getting at the beginning haha. And people think we abuse and toture horses. Big babies is what they are lol
  • That was one long course folks...nice quiet ride too...kudos to John and his mate..
  • there is only one jump I can do on course..... the small one before the hill!
  • Never in my entire life would I've remembered the whole course far too complicated 😂
  • @LiveLoveRC
"Get up!" hahaha...that is one good horse!
  • I felt like I was the one riding, and when I heard the poles coming down I was like "NO JUMP HIGHER COME ON BUDDY!" out loud, I could never jump this course lmao props to you
  • In the beginning, the feeling of excitement rose in my stomach when my eyes landed on Rolex. LOL! As if I was a good jumper!
  • First time I have been over jumps in a long time :) Thoroughly enjoyed this helmet cam and would love to see more.
  • And here I am, getting this recommended to me 10 years later.

Thanks for this video John, what a treat to see a round in the international ring at Spruce Meadows from the saddle (and as a competitor in the tiny little stuff at RMSJ, thanks for all you do for the sport at the grassroots level!)
  • Loved this! Gave me an insight as to what I want to achieve in the future :)
  • It's amazing!! You and your horse are a great team!! Keep it, it was so good to watch ❤️🐎
  • I would love to do this one day! These videos give a great idea of how physically tasking these courses are on both horses and riders. Anyone who thinks riding is easy should take a peek. :) Great work, you are an inspiration to young riders like myself!
