That's not more powerful than expected. It's exactly as expected: A LOT more powerful than a ps4.
  • Yo Big N was like F it let’s just cancel Switch 2 and go straight to Switch 2 Pro😂
  • @typeraver
These improvements in docked mode would also benefit peak performance or battery life in handheld mode too. Let's see a sizzle reel already!
  • If it does end up having that much power, I just hope the battery life would still at least be on par with the current switch.

The chip never went through a hardware revision, the board did, but we can see that the T239 chip became an engineering sample in spring 2022 and was hardware finalized by the Linux public update on September 5th 2022, we know that firmware was worked on for this chip by Nvidia through 2023, so no it was never suppose to launch in 2023, it was apparently suppose to always release in 2024 but was delayed about 5 months for a march 2025 launch. The reasons we know all of these things is because it all can be seen through various updates to Linux (which is public) and the shipping info (which is also public). The T239 chip was never 8nm and these leakers are starting to realize this, and trying to cover their butts.

Nintendo trying to keep up with time? Ain't no way.

I think the price might be higher than people think if it’s really that more powerful but still day one for me if I can get it 😅

Thank, Nathaniel RumpleMinze! Love the new set up... definitely hyped for the next console and reveal.

Isn’t the current switch 0.5 teraflops in docked mode… so we are talking an 8 or 9x boost in teraflops. At that point I don’t think it really matters which it is.

it would fall in line with an xbox series s and to be frank, i'm fine with that. The advantage the switch 2 will have though, is DLSS which is far better than generic upscalers or FSR. In the end, we know third party publishers are excited at least so it does seem like we finally may get more day and date support in the next few years, on a nintendo platform outside of japanese publishers. It has been a LONG time since nintendo got that treatment.

2 to 4 teraflops of raw power shuld be enough, the must important point besides that is the tools and tricks to squeeze that power in the best possible ways
  • @martinaee
Is it though? …. If one even just thought about this for several years, it’s made sense that Nintendo needs a console at least as powerful as a XBSS (in practical performance and what it can do) to make sure they are getting most of the same games the other consoles are. This seems perfect. What did everyone think… they’d be fine releasing something at the level of a PS4 this far into the cycle of consoles like the PS5?

This happens when people use their inside sources as actual representatives of the companies, rather than view them as having their own personal opinions. This isn't Nvidia's product, it's Nintendo's! What a customer does with their product isn't Nvidia's concern, especially since they would have gotten the majority of their money up-front. This sounds like a case of Moore's Law's Nvidia sources being confused - AS INDIVIDUAL OBSERVERS- as opposed to some internal company issue. Nvidia's only job is to produce what the customer wants.

While Nintendo has stopped prioritizing Graphics & Power since the Nintendo Wii (7th generation) or debatably even the N64 (5th generation), and understandably so, I'd still be very gladly happy if the Switch2 ends up slightly surpassing the PlayStation4-Pro's CPU/GPU while at least keeping-up close-enough to the XboxOneX's CPU & GPU, because shrinking the gap of Graphics & Power between Nintendo vs PlayStation & Xbox during the current-generation helps third-party games have way more stable multi-platform releases than they already do have. Of course, I also don't want the Switch2 to be just as powerful as the PlayStation5 and/or XboxSeriesX|S, because while higher-quality and faster-GPU still matters, it is not the only important factor required to make Nintendo's new gaming consoles a success! They should also prioritize the designs & gimmicks that should potentially help the Switch2 sell well as the Switch1 did (if not better).
  • so you do believe that the rumor about nvidia being fustrated with nintendo is true or atleast has credibility?
