Why the Sea Doo Switch is More Important Than You Think

Publicado 2021-08-11
DISCLAIMER: The 250hp mark was based off the 230hp 1630 being NA, not supercharged. Sea Doo has confirmed the 230hp model as "supercharged." This still means the 100hp Switch can be tuned to 170hp and above. New video here:    • New Information on the Sea Doo Switch...

Please watch the entire video and see what you think about the 1630 motor :)

  • Excited to see people running shallow and jumping logs with these things

The fact they made deck configuration changeable is about as huge as it gets for me. When you can go from cruise to fish in less than 5 minutes or really even at all, I am SOLD! Too bad the big toon builders never in all their years came up with that yet seadoo does it on their first toon. Once again.....Sold! Thank you SeaDoo!

I feel like people are going to hate on these until they see one ripping across a lake pulling a wakeboarder. I’d buy one

Wow, your video chapters are awesome! Never seen them done so well on YouTube! Excellent video

Great point. Tune that little 16 footer and it will be an absolute blast. Looking forward to seeing these on the water.

This boat looks awesome. We can't wait to get to an auto show to see it in person. I think the additional cost is due to accessories they have added like the coolers, storage bags, and console bags. If you take them out it pulls the price down a bit. That starting at price is bare-bones - like no chairs, floor mats, mirrors or anything..

Turn it into a fishing platform with spot lock trolling motor, shallow water anchor, fish finder and i-Pilot. SeaDoo could knock a home run by offering a state of the art fishing package from the factory. Imagine how inexpensive it could be if SeaDoo negotiated the right deal with Minn Kota, Hummingbird and Motor Guide. Before long there would be SeaDoo fishing tournaments. SeaDoo could put pressure on the entire leisure boating industry with this innovation.
  • Excited to say I'm getting the sport 18ft for family fun and I personally can't wait to put to my fishing challenge and I have no doubt it's going to be an amazing machine point blank, have a Blessed day everyone

These are gonna sell like hot cakes. A seadoo with seating for 5-9 will be very desirable. If the kinks are worked out, which they should be being the motor is a common lineup, you’re gonna see these everywhere. Seadoo nailed it here.

You're missing some big points in that comparison. 1. This is a tritoon design which is inherently going to ride better/faster/safer than 2 round, non lifting toons. 2. This boat does not require an additional 3' of storage space for the outboard/well. 3. These are very lightweight, towable by most 3 row crossovers.

You make a good point. When I bought my Sparks back in 2016 I got the two ups but with the 90HP motors. Not long after there were tunes available from a lot of places that could easily get you 110HP. If I had known then what I found out later I would have ordered the 60HP versions and just tuned them for about a forth of what it cost me to get the upgrade from Sea-Doo
  • I was able to build one for $17,999. Just choose Compact then click the "Continue without bundle" oval button. You might need to do it on the computer website as opposed to the mobile version on a phone. My wife swears she saw a Seadoo Swith go by on a trailer as we were driving in Pasco Washington today. I barely got a glimpse at it so I couldn't be %100 sure. Looked like a blue Switch to me.
  • @VBVTV
Good info. I'm going to buy the Switch and tune like you said to 230 hp. Thanks for the heads up!

We just pre-ordered here in Manitoba, Canada Only one dealer allowed to sell and limited to 15 units. I called 2 days after seadoo live video on 2022 models. They already had 10 spoken for, so good thing I called. I had a few builds lined up but realized same thing about engine, so we went with the 18 foot cruise with just about every option and 100hp. So after warranty is over I’ll get it flashed/tuned to at least 170hp and maybe higher we’ll see. But getting the 100hp saved $6,000 right on build package compared to 170hp 🤷‍♂️

Outboard manufacturers have always done the same thing with their engines. Same block, displacement, etc. with different hp ranges. For example, the supercharged Merc Verado pro L6 came in 200, 225, 250, 275, & 300 hp. All had the same specs.
  • @loril4307
I am purchasing the Cruise 18' model with 170 hp. I would love to know where to go to get this "tuned" to improve speed in order to tow skiers.
  • @jimmykol
i can see these things all over the Gulf coast of Florida as the perfect boats for the rental market. Boat clubs can make bank using these boats. very smart keeping the cost down.... they will change the market.
  • @RhumRunner41
Bass Pro’s boat price excludes the trailer while the SeaDoo Switch includes the trailer so yes, even at $20k, it’s still cheaper. But don't forget that BRP also adds a Commodity Surcharge on all its products. I would guess between $2,500 & $3,500. So while their initial MSRP is low, it still costs you the same in the end. My I/O 4.3 l Merc only does 190 hp so the 230 should move that rig pretty good, but that 300 hp tune would be nice.
