April 11, 2009 something amazing happened. The video speaks for itself. I pray that ITV doesn't mind that I posted this, please, allow me to share this INCREDIBLE moment that you were lucky and fortunate enough to capture and share yourselves. Also note: the first few seconds of the video may appear blocky... this is because I cut it to the right of a keyframe, so it takes another keyframe to clear up again. Sorry about that, but at least I know what caused it, right? :)

This is one of the most amazing things I've seen in a long, long time. I think the world can use more of this.

    Watching this again in May 2024 and it still brings tears to my eyes, and being Scottish myself it makes me proud that this lovely lady has achieved everything that she very much deserved, and yet has remained humble, friendly, and true to her Scottish roots through and through.

    Susan had a tough time growing up (bullied for her autism) and was one of 8 children. She lived at home and took care of her widowed mother for many years. This audition was the first time she sang for an audience after her mother's death.

    Funny how everyone seems to equate beauty with talent... Just because someone isn't traditionally beautiful, everyone assumed she'd have no talent. When, in reality, it was the exact opposite. She has way more talent than some of the beautiful "singers" on the market today.

    I think Simon genuinely fell head over heels for Susan and her singing. He went from disbelief to dewy eyed staring. As did all of us.

    No matter what Susan Boyle did or did not do after this event, she forever made her mark in history with this audition, like very few others ever have. After this audition, the entertainment business were hell bent on finding the next Susan Boyle. That, to me, is her greatest legacy.
