I laugh so hard when daphne was like "gimme the special dress" and there's all this excitement about it, when she arrives at the party everybody gasps.. and she look exactly the same as every other dress and scene

As a black viewer I was actually very pleased they didn’t make race a pivotal aspect of the plot. Whenever black characters are introduced to a plot their whole story line is centred on just their race and it’s honestly exhausting. The characters are subject to ridicule and constantly have to fight against racial issues. Honestly I loved watching the black characters just be humans, fall in love, and have good time. It was so refreshing. This mad made it so easy to fall into the plot and just watch to enjoy rather than worry when the poc character is going to be ridiculed neck.

Actually, I really liked that Daphne got married when she did. Most stories around women end with marriage. By placing her end goal at the middle-ish of the season, it’s like stating that it’s not the end of her life, and that mixed with the issues she faces in her marriage show a different storyline and I’m grateful for it

King marries WOC Several centuries of racism: "adios"

Even though it wasn’t historically accurate, I really enjoyed how the hairstylists incorporated black/natural hairstyles like braids, afros, and dreadlocks into Queen Charlotte’s outfits.
  • Tight lacing a corset (without a chemise no less!) to wear with an empire waisted dress is like the modern day equivalent of wearing a sexy push up bra and spanx to wear with an oversized hoodie.

Daphne reminded me so much of Wendy from Peter Pan. Literally the cartoon is her exactly even the bangs lol
  • @Leah-xh9ji
Yeah like the whole time I was watching Bridgerton I was like “why tf is Daphne the least dressed person”
  • @myettechase
I couldn’t stop laughing when the prince gave her the necklace. It’s like, “Hello, I’m an actual prince from an actual royal family who’s intent on wooing you, so I got you this necklace from Claire’s.”

“They also didn’t want to include bonnets” Somewhere in northwest Ohio Micarah Tewers is doing a craft and seething with rage.
  • Hating Simon but being severely attracted to him is the epitome of this show
  • @notafloor
Seeing costumes from Emma just after having seen the weird bridgerton dresses, did bridgerton absolutely no favours lol
  • @JellyGummy26
I made a joke about how ridiculous that tight lacing corset scene was to my parents and they got so angry because they genuinely believe tight lacing was the norm throughout history and that only rich women wore corsets... This is exactly why movies need to stop including those scenes, they make no sense especially in the regency era.

I agree about the racial conversation. Up until that point I just assumed the cast was diverse because who cares, it's not like it's a historical drama, but it felt odd that they were like "the white king married a black woman and now everything is cool"
  • @piltschze
yeah but what if it was the other way around and simon would forcibly impregnate daphne, completely dismissing her will not to have children and act like he has the right to? it would be a completely different conversation and that, in my opinion, is messed up.
  • @FaithBetta
All these shows love that fugly green gold for the “rival” family
  • You and Karolina dropping Bridgerton reviews at the same time is all I needed
  • @luanaaraujo9869
Funny how they could make Daphne a bazillion of the same dresses but no jackets, chemisettes, chemises, nothing 😅...
  • @sarahvandy5068
Whoever fit penelope’s dresses did that girl dirty. I’m sick of seeing costume designers not knowing how to dress curvy girls!
  • @sarapagan2064
The writers of bridgerton when Daphne sexually assaulted and tried to baby trap Simon: 👼😴🕊️🤗✅ The witters of bridgerton when Simon lied to Daphne about why he didnt want kids: 🤬😾👺💢😠😡😤
