  • copying the description here cause no one reads it: forgot to mention that I focus - as always - on women's clothing here, but Pinsent Tailoring should drop his review soon! also check out Costuming Drama's interesting video about some of the issues within the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XQxFcRfWSc&

They literally played a Billie Eilish song in one of the episodes. I don't think they are concerned with historical accuracy at all. 😂
  • Bridgerton is totally a fanfic. They literally have the fake-relationship-trope in it

I feel like Bridgerton is an alternate universe with less racism, more dainty clothes and where beloved 2020s pop songs were released 200 years early

I'm kinda waiting for the time when Karolina finally snaps and makes her own historically accurate movie LOL.
  • i saw a tumblr post once that was like "great-grandma didn't give herself arsenic poisoning for costumers to avoid bright colors" and i think about it regularly

Bridgerton is 100% meant to be regency fantasy. It was never intended to be historically accurate. They dance to an orchestral version of Thank U Next for goodness sake.
  • I felt so bad for the seamstress character. Every time the rich ladies told her they needed the gowns the next day I thought "how's she gonna do that???"

Now we understand why the time travel seamstress was so stressed out-

yes! Totally FANFIC vibes! That part when Simon "teaches" daphne how to touch herself..?? It looks like something from wattpad
  • I love how "Reign" is always the scale for "bad costumes" even years later 🤣

I loved how the show was already historically inacurate as hell so they just went all the way with it and had fun with the outfits. It definitely worked for this show

The overboob thing drove me crazy too, but I wasn't sure how to fix it until you pointed it out here. I thought maybe the actresses all had small boobs or something, but now I realize it's because their dresses simply didn't fit. You know that scene where Daphne arrives at a ball and she's supposed to be all goddess-like to both ensnare the prince and make Simon jealous? I get that that was the aim, but I feel like it failed to deliver because I honestly felt like her mother looked better than her because her mother was wearing a gown that actually made her boobs look good while Daphne's chest was just... confused. There's a picture at 17:10 that sort of shows what I'm talking about.

I went to a uni open day in Bath (where lots of Brigerton scenes were filmed) and the woman who did the tour said that Brigerton did this thing where you could be an extra if you brought your own costume, hence why so many extras costumes were historically inaccurate

I’m happy that people in that era didn’t actually have glitter or we’d still be finding it everywhere nowadays 😂
