Bridgerton is not meant to be an accurate show anyways, so who cares if the costumes are 100% historical or not? It’s a nice little fantasy, and we love it like that
  • You forget to discuss the Indian fabrics, colours and motifs in Kate’s dresses. And the ball gown looks like a dupatta that’s taken with a lehenga choli in Indian dress. Even her Jewellery had a lot of gold and stones like Indian jewellery does.
  • Did anyone notice that Kate’s hairstyle changed according to her feelings towards Antony? When she arrived, she had perfect buns and no loose ends as she was on alert and clear with what she wanted. Slowly as she falls for Antony, her hair loosens and her look becomes more and more softer… especially when she feels vulnerable, when her hair is left open. In Season 3, all the looks till now show her softer, romantic and more feminine side; including her hairstyle!
  • the reason for penelope wearing yellow in the books was that the featherington's mom thought yellow would make penelope look happier because yellow is a happy color
  • @lethellsing
In the books her mother chooses yellow, orange and red gowns because they are happy colours to make Pen look happier and not sad and miserable, though they do nothing for her peaches and cream complexion, they make her look dull. Green and Blue are colours that suit her best making her shine.

"beautiful and elaborate features" is about the most graceful way you could have made that point, and I appreciate that

The fact that they did ALL the costumes, no rentals or anything is amazing!

All the costumes in Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte are amazing.
  • I always liked Portia’s wardrobe. Her neckline and quarter length sleeves fit the actress. Plus some of the patterns are really pretty.

Lady Danbury has the most delicious wardrobe. Always stunning.

although it didn't aim for accuracy to the historic timeline of garments- i am amazed at the huge amount of thought and detail put on the costume design of Bridgerton. Its not just the fabrics or how its shaped but also the subtle shifts on wardrobe color of a character to show character growth amazes me!

its not greek or roman culture it's indian culture whcih inspired kate's lehenga or dress. u have to remember her origins and identity.

Wait a minute. Does that mean we might see Colin in a wet shirt too?!

Coming back here after watching the season 3 trailer, I was so excited to see the sparkly dark green dress that Penelope wears and her non yellow dresses. So much detail in the costume and colour palette. Great analysis
  • That's reading a bit too much into why Penelope's dress is green and is kind of wrong. It's actually foreshadowing that the new season will be about Penelope becoming her own person finally--while Penelope is initially associated with yellow, she becomes associated with green in her and Colin's book as she begins choosing her own dresses, particularly green being flattering on her. So saying the color is bc she's marrying a Bridgerton is a bit undermining to her arc--green represents Pen coming into herself. The fact that blue + yellow = green is coincidence (a nice one but still coincidence).
  • 7:58 purple is also the opposite color to yellow (gold) so she was putting herself as far away from her marriage (on the color wheel) as possible

One day, i will be one of those talented designers making such dresses.
  • Personally I am not a fan of orange and yellow colours, but I still like the Featheringtons style. I think that Penelope's sisters look gorgeous. The only issue is the silhouette of the dresses that their mama wears, which is unflattering to anyone with any figure. But their dresses are perfectly fine imo

Eloise's dress from season 3 looks like Cinderella's dress
