"Jimmy was cutting every link between himself and the robbery, but it had nothing to do with me," says the guy who knew all about the heist and got a hefty cut of the take. I would've started worrying as soon as I saw those dead bodies start turning up.

For being such a loud guy, Tommy goes out with a quiet whispering “oh no…..”

I can't hear this song without thinking of this scene. Same with "House of the Rising Sun" from Casino. Both great songs and great scenes.

When Tommy murmured oh no, he just realized he forgot his trusty shinebox.
  • This music works perfect as an upbeat soundtrack for a happy ending... and in a way this sequence marks the ending of the first half of movie where the mob is portraited as a glamorous, friendly association. After "Layla" plays out, the movie turns darker, is all about betrayal and the slow decay of each character until the bitter ending.

I just love that Martin Scorsese snuck his mother into the movie as Tommy's mother.
  • Oh boy, I remember the beginning of this movie when all those guys were introduced. Everyone seemed so happy, smiling and shaking each other's hands. And after a while we see them all looking like dead meat with blood splattered all over them, while this incredible Eric Clapton tune is played in the background. Scorsese is a fucking genius by all means!!

This song gives me chills every time that I hear it. Even on the car radio in the middle of the summer. I can never hear the second half of "Layla" the same ever again.

This was where the fun started wearing off and the hangover started kicking in. An end of their era, and the beginning of their declines. If you've never seen this movie, watch it soon. It's great.

Many people may resent Henry for ratting out Jimmy and Paulie, but this shows why he did what he did. At the end, Henry was the very last person with inside knowledge on the Lufthansa heist still alive, and the last person that could link Jimmy to the Lufthansa heist. There's no doubt in my mind that he was seeing the hand writing on the wall after this.
  • The fact that Tommy's mother was proud of him getting made made my day when I first seen this movie as a kid with my father & then Tommy gets his lights turned out,, that was the first time my father herd me curse & all he could do was laugh 🤣

"When they found Tommy's shinebox it took two day's to thaw it before they cold polish Billy Batts shoe's" "Batt's was a made guy and Tommy's shinebox wasn't"

What I love is the hypocrisy of the scene after jimmy finds out. You get the whole "They shot him in the face so his ma couldnt even get an open casket funeral" or something like that. Ignoring the fact that they literally beat and stabbed a made man to death then disappeared his body so his family didnt even have a BODY to bury. Tommy didnt deserve any respect in his getting whacked, and it wasnt even remotely over the line how they responded to it. In fact it was pretty measured. Boom, headshot, done deal. Not like casino where he gets to watch his brother beaten into a coma, then gets the same himself then both are buried alive in the desert.

Every bar in the area should have a drink called the "Frozen Carbone."
