Observational documentary series about one of the busiest stretches of motorway in Britain, where the country's longest motorway, the M6, meets four other major routes. Since January 2003's White Friday, the Highways Agency have invested in a dedicated team of national traffic officers and motorway maintenance workers ready to react to weather events and deal with incidents. This episode follows the teams working on the M6 and surrounding motorways as they face one of the stormiest winters on record. Despite planning for snow and ice, they find themselves facing the stormiest winter in over 40 years and the wettest winter in 250 years. It's all hands on deck and desperate times require desperate measures. Away from the storm, the motorway maintenance incident support unit are on their winter litter-picking patrols, adding to the 180,000 bags of rubbish collected on Britain's motorways. And underneath the Spaghetti Junction, a hidden workforce tries to restore the iconic structure to its former glory.

I really hope you make more Motorway documentaries, this 4 part series is brilliant.
  • How little we know about these motorways, yet we tend to form opinions so quickly

I like how Some of the army are wearing their uniform (camo) with high-vis jackets ontop.

I was going up the M6 one day back in 1995, and alongside us was only the Chuckle Brothers. From me to you. I was rocking in my seat to go faster. We did get a chuckle too. around J3.

Thanks for these insights into the real state of our driving and our roads. Puts me off using motorways, but then they say they are our safest roads????

I worked as highway motorway operative. Its nice job but can be qite dangerous. Have to admit that this is the most boring part of police interceptor program I have ever seen

Great examples from the highways agency and others of how to drive - holding the wheel between thumb and forefinger only, for instance. Or driving with one elbow on the window ledge.

    I’m sorry Luke 😢 and Badger 😢
  • The lady with her little girl in the car, on the Motorway ...IS SCARED OF THE WIND!. Lady, you need to get on a fully faired 1000cc sports bike - on a m/way - when it's VERY WINDY. Now THAT IS scarey. Add rain to it.... you need bAll$ of steel. (except I am a lady) and during my 60's and early 70s (my age) was doing all this. BTW ... I love these videos...
