The Vow | You Knew

Real story aside. This is a beautiful movie. The fact that the guy loved her enough to not tell her the one thing he knew about her family that would make her stay was actually incredible. He wanted her to come back on her terms. He wasn’t going to drive her away from her family, by telling her about the affair. Because he knew that telling her about the affair would have been for him not for her.

Her parents chose not to tell her because they knew she would leave He chose not to tell her despite knowing it would make her stay with him They lied and separated her from him out of selfishness. He never tried to separate her from them, even when it made him lose her, out of love for her That says a lot about who truly loves her

I like how the character Leo doesn't abuse information he knows, its not his secret to tell even though it may benefit him in the short run

I don't care if the mom stayed with her husband after he cheated, that's her decision, it's her life, but what I find unforgivable was the way they manipulated her, took away her right to choose, rip her away of the life she made for herself and of the man she chose. Seriously I wouldn't be able to trust them ever again, they have literally been deceiving her every single second since the accident, all of them, it's disgusting.

The casting for this movie was amazing. For a long time I really believed that Jessica McNamee was Rachel McAdam’s real sister. They just look so much alike that my brain refused to believe they were just strangers. But, turns out they are! They’re both so beautiful

As an older person this scene hits so different now. I may not agree with the mum but I can also see her pov.It’s not so easy to just up n leave.

Forgiving doesnt mean you have to stay. She should have admitted she was afraid to be alone.

Thats powerful Edit: This argument/philosophy has been inspirational to me in my life in general to be more understanding and forgiving with parents/family/friends etc. I've tended in the past to cut people out of my life due to the toxicity that comes with being immature and arrogant. And In some cases, depending ofcourse on the person and the circumstance, I think forgiving a spouse for one thing seems perfectly reasonable and fair to me. Now if you are the type of person who forgives abuse or continuous disrespect/cheating etc then that's on you to self reflect and evaluate. It usually stems from fear and insecurities, from what I have observed in people I know living in these situations. I knew when to walk away from my son's dad, but I don't judge my loved ones still living in their cycles even though I know it's because they are afraid to branch out on their own and lack that confidence in themselves to know that it will be ok. And on the other side of that coin, I know someone who cheated early in her relationship and now they are happily married because she realized his worth in her life and she's grown and healed from past toxicities. Remember always, Everyone has the right to their opinions, but no one should judge other people regardless. as you are not God or in their shoes. Have a blessed day (:

The one thing he did wrong comes with A LOT OF BS. There was a lot of lying, sneaking around, talking shit about you, etc.

This scene has incredible acting. Just genius.

It’s not about the cheating, because her mom choose forgiveness. It is about the whole family put aside important informations just to control the life of her daughter, that is the most heartbreaking part

They divorced in 2018, he was cheating on her. So dude went from being so in love with her and winning her back to breaking her heart years later and breaking his vow.

It’s not strong to stay, it’s stronger to leave. It’s not one thing he did wrong. There was multiple instances of lying, sneaking around, more lying- to you, to the mistress, to the kids. I would never be able to fully trust the person the same way after he cheated on me. In my mind I would always think, if he was able to see me everyday and make the real conscious decision to cheat when he knows that it would hurt me so much, how could I really trust him not to hurt me again?

After cheating it's really difficult for the other person. Because he/she always have to live with insecurities and on the line and doesn't have any peace to their mind. It difficult to trust someone or the same person who cheated you again. Also most of the times, cheater will cheat again.

Rachel McAdams always loses her memory in these movies.

The thing I don’t like about this whole series of events is that they chose not to tell Paige. If she decided to stay that’s entirely cool but not telling Paige was a terrible choice they made not for her but for them. So they could be in control.

The mother was a liar, coward and selfish. Ok fine she forgave her husband but at least she should have tried to help reunite her daughter with Leo. She did not even show one once of care or respect for Leo.
