What cartooning tips I learned from Philippines' National Cartoonist Larry Alcala and the SKP?

I joined the Basic Cartooning Workshop held by the Samahang Kartunista ng Pilipinas (Philippine Cartoonists' Association). It is held in lieu of the Slices of Life, Wit and Humor exhibit tour at the Gateway Mall in Cubao, which honored Philippine National Artist and well-loved editorial cartoonist, Larry Alcala. I learned basic tips in creating a comics character and making short stories in three-panel comic strips. You have to know lots of dad jokes and memes to make a good one! 😅

Thank you, SKP, especially Arch. Ed Padilla, who graced me with a short interview about the importance of comics in today's culture.

I love this! I grew up on Larry Alacala's cartoons---Slice of Life from Philippine Star, Mod Caps from Mod Magazine, Bing Bang Bum from Funny Comics and I even had a book compilation of Mang Ambo! Thanks for giving me a peek into the exhibit and workshop!

Really love the backstory to this! And it’s really fascinating how it’s used in serious situations as well. Have fun situations with the whole cartoon theme. The comic strip was amazing and literally looked like something you would find in a real magazine! Really brilliant work. You are a true creative in every sense. ❤
