Jason is so criminally underrated for being in the biggest metal band ever and he’s been one of my biggest inspirations since I was a kid. Thank you for this!!

Jason is pretty high in my book of heavy bass players. Consistent, aggressive, song oriented, great stage presence.

I don’t think you have enough impact on the “aggressive” parts. You will notice Jason is usually swinging his entire arm.

His tone on God That Failed is so so excellent. One of the best bass tones ever.

To get his sound on "And Justice for all" put the bass volume at "0", and do not plug it in to an amp or recording device. You can still use an AMP just make sure the main power switch to the amp is in the "off" position, and the amp is unplugged.

Jason was also the only guy to ever use a fretless bass in a Metallica song. He experimented with everything.

If I don't remember it bad, Jason recorded Nothing Else Matters with a fretless Spector and with no pick. Anyhow, the video is cool.

Great video! Jason is a huge influence for me and while he never gets his due in the legendary bass player rankings, we all know he is responsible for getting so many people into bass that it is ridiculous. Your main channel just got a sub over here.

No offence dude but this tone doesn't really match at all, Jason's tone is very aggressive sounding because of compression and having a huge midrange boost. If you listen the isolated bass tracks of AJFA and the Black album his tone is actually pretty clean, the sound you had here is too muddy and undefined. It actually reminded me more of Cliff's sound than Jason's. It also helps if you hit the strings really hard, if you watch footage of him playing that's how he plays.
