  • The original still looks amazing, the art style is more akin to a painting while part 1 is going for full realism
  • The story of the first game is incredible. The “remake” has the characters express emotions significantly better than the original. I think that the story’s going to hit that much harder because of that.
  • I honestly still prefer Joel’s original model. His face just seems to have more sadness in it.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty hyped about this remake; but this comparison only confirms how stunning the original really was <3

3:14 That remake design of the clicker is amazing, the inclusion of the hair and the visibility of the mouth makes it so much more creepy.

The ideal remake is one that makes the game look the way it does in your head, rather than how it actually looked at the time. I remember TLoU being visually spectacular, so looking at pictures in isolation I wondered what had even changed - seeing them side by side, it's actually a lot. Maybe not every change is for the better but overall it looks really good.

Still one of the best games I've ever played. Loved every single moment. Hope the remake doesn't lose any of the original feeling and gameplay.
  • I don't like much how Ellie looks in the remake. It's pretty good but I feel like she looks more grown up and tried to make it really similar to how she looks in the second game that's supposed to be a few years later.
  • Wow, how little time it took you to create such high quality comparison. My respect.
  • @GamerKito
At first I though they looked pretty similar, when checking the reveal at Summer Game fest I saw the difference but this video made me appreciate the number of changes visible when comparing the two.

The newer models feel like they're straight from Part 2. I would've loved more to see them remaster the faces too. Joel looks like he's in his 60's in the remake, while he's supposed to be nearing 50. And Ellie looks as if they just shortened her, without any change whatsoever. She was supposed to be 14 in Part 1, and 19 in Part 2. Those 5 years make a hell lot of difference to your face.

The face expresions look awesome, and the backgrounds to, and especialy the clickers. I aslo like Joel's face but I dont know why Ellie's face looks very different in comparation to the original game. It looks similar to her face in tlou2, making Ellie look much more older than the age she really had in the original game
  • It is shocking when you find out there are really differences between the original and the remake. That shows how much perfect the original was.

Man congrats, you gotta be the hardest working youtuber, the resident evil 4 comparison was really quick now this? You deserve all the best man! thanks for your work.

This just made me realize how awesome the original still looks … and I prefer the old face models

I'll always love the original TLOU, but Part I is aiming for realism. And don't get me wrong, from some cutscenes it straight up looks like a movie with how realistic it looks now, and a lot of the stuff seems way more polished and refined, which I like! I think realism in video games is good sometimes, especially for a game like the Last of Us! But the original look at this point is so iconic, so I understand why people are hesitant to see a more realistic direction. Was it unnecessary to see through a remake of the Last of Us 1? Yeah, probably. And yes, they maybe could've sat on the game a bit longer before deciding to remake it. However, while it may be jarring at first, I think people will, eventually, probably overlook it and enjoy getting back into the game. (Though I definitely agree $70 is kinda stupid lol)

Looks so much better, combined with the gameplay being brought closer to Part II, I can’t wait!
  • I think I’ll miss Ellie’s old face model but the new one looks great too so doesn’t matter that much New one has better facial animations anyways so it’ll be better plus she looks like the sequel version of herself anyways
