In this video I disassemble my Tekton torque wrench to figure out why it stopped clicking. I take apart the torque wrench, re-grease, and reassemble. Very detailed for anyone needing to do this step by step.

Many thanks for this video. My torque wrench was about to be scrapped as I could hang off it without it clicking. Your help, twenty minutes and a little grease and it's working again 🙂.
  • I needed to disassemble the torque wrench to see why locking mechanism doesn't turn all the way, this video helped me a lot. Thank you!

I have the shorter version of this TW and you helped me repair and calibrate it. Thanks. Note to future self "Don't bang on TW with a hammer in frustration trying to break loose a nut"

Once you take one apart, you should check the calibration on it. It should click within 15% -/+ of what you have it set for. Always take the wrench back to zero after use to remove tension on the spring.

This video makes me feel a lot better about the cheapo great neck torque wrench that I just took apart and serviced, the guts on the inside are exactly the same as what Tekton uses on their torque wrenches.
  • Thanks for the video. You saved my torque wrench! My wrench wouldn’t click. I thought it was broken. Had no idea you could service these things. Why would you disassemble this on a rug?
  • @alexescobar5707
I keep my Gearwrench torque in my garage and probably because is not heated the grease got thicker and I couldn’t here it clicking so I took my wife’s hair dryer and set it up on low high for a good 15 minutes and it worked!!!

You rock. I was so overwhelmed by this tool. Don't understand it really, but I can fix it, so thanks.
  • Thank you sir. I had a newer inch torque wrench that stopped clicking. Thanks to you, I was able to fix it and not have to buy another one.
  • @gooburrum
