Fun fact: Toby Gard who created Lara Croft, was inspired to make a female protagonist after seeing how interested the male staff at Core Design were in playing as the two female characters in Virtua Fighter on the Sega Saturn.
-
Yoshi's Island is graphically flawless because that sprite work is timeless
-
Sega Rally Championship is so, so good. The physics are absolutely perfect and made the game eminently replayable.
-
As Canadian child in the 90s, NHL 96 was so beloved because they brought back fighting after it was missing in 94/95.
-
I played Yoshi’s Island so many times when it released. I would play it, get 100%, then erase the file to play through it again. It’s that good.
-
05:09 "...2019, some 14 years after the game's original release." Seiken Densetsu 3 is now one of the best games of 2005.
-
One of my favourite years in video game history. It has 3 of my favourite SNES games of all time Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country 2 and Yoshi’s Island. Still to this day, Yoshi’s Island is my favourite game of all time. 👍👍

Christmas 1995, I unwrapped DKC2 and Yoshi's Island. They are among the greatest games I've ever played.
-
Great video. I am surprised that Virtual Fighter 2 was not on this or 1996 lists as it got just as good reviews and I’m sure that it had more than 7 reviews. Still a great list ❤. Keep up the fantastic work!

R.I.P. Coolio

Ah yes, 1995. Such a great year. I graduated high school, got my own apartment. Definitely wasn't playing video games at the moment though.
-
& here are some honorable mentions: Comix Zone Command & Conquer Descent EarthBound (or Mother 2 if you want to get Japanese about this) Full Throttle Hexen: Beyond Heretic Marvel Super Heroes Rayman Star Wars: Dark Forces Street Fighter Alpha Suikoden Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Tales of Phantasia The King of Fighters '95
-
RIP Coolio.
-
Chrono Tigger is the greatest RPG of all time imo and is my favorite game. It's, coincidentally, a timeless masterpiece.
-
1995 was maybe my favorite year ever. Wonderful things have happened in life since, but what an amazing time to be alive.
-
Virtual Fighter is a series that endures to this day.. I mean, does it though? When’s the last time you played a Virtual Fighter game? I honestly didn’t know they still made them.
-
i still have my original warcraft2 disc somewhere. loved playing that game.
-
warcraft 2.....perfect game. played it most when i lived in germany. the language was set to german, and it really gave the game a cool vibe. i still say the ghostly "naturlich, meister" when my wife asks me to do something
-
I remember being at the mall arcade playing Mortal Kombat 3 (and the Simpsons game) for far too much time before it was available for snes
