Sometimes I go to videos or interviews I did to see if I said anything stupid..well I did🤣🤣I'm so sorry to all the fans. I have been obsessed with the fight scenes of Rurouni Kenshin but never fully watched the anime or the films. I will do my due diligence and get my shit together and binge it all. 🤣
  • @kenjitanigaki
Hey, I'm the action director of Rurouni Kenshin. Thanks for mention about this movie, let me correct several points. 1.Kenshin is using reverse sword, it means the edge is on the other side so there's no blood in the action scenes. 2. It is absolutely a story thing. 3.Actually 98% of the shots, we just shot with normal speed, not undercranking! We used to open the shutter angle with 90 degrees, that's it.
  • @ThinkingAvidly
the whole plot of rurouni kenshin is that he used to be a manslayer but now he's a pacifist that only uses the backside of his blade hence the no blood.
  • @JacketCK
"i doubt it's a story thing" Little did they know it was 100% a story thing
  • @DeadAndAliveCat
That Atomic Blonde scene is sooo amazing. You guys didn't even mention that it's a 5-10 minute unbroken shot that travels from outside, to inside, bottom floor to top back to bottom, to outside again, to car chase!

The no blood in Rurouni Kenshin is a story thing. The main character during the war killed a whole lot of people giving him the moniker of manslayer, but he gives that up and fights using a reverse blade sword so that he is only fighting with the blunt side.

Re: Rurouni Kenshin: it’s intentional, his sword is inverted so it doesn’t cut. Ergo no blood. The manga and anime are worth looking up.
  • @asherandai1000
That Kenshin "It's not a story thing" physically hurt me.
  • @bla5tfm
I think the lack of blood during the Rouruni Kenshin swordfight was because Kenshin is using a reversed blade katana. He's sworn off killing. I love the John Wick knife fight because of the sloppiness of the knife throwing. Makes it so realistic.
  • @thiago4santos
Kenshin blade is inverted. He doesn't want to cut people.
  • @panyarou
"I don't think it's a story thing." Ruroni Kenshin Fans: WRONG
  • @LizzardGirl713
with all the salt over the first clip, I feel like not a lot of people are expressing gratitude for the rest of the video. So thank you for the rest of the great clips! especially the staircase fight from Atomic Blonde - that was one of my requests!
  • one of my favorite things about atomic blonde is across the movie she goes from doing battles as swiftly as john wick. but as she tires and keeps going the battles get more and more grounded and gruesome
  • @NeroNyte
"I don't think it's a story thing." every single person in the comments "It's a story thing." lol
  • @IceFire2050
Kenshin's entire "thing" is that he doesn't kill people (usually) anymore. He was a ruthless killer in the past but reformed himself. He uses the sakabatō aka "reverse blade sword". It's a katana where the opposite edge of the sword is sharpened compared to a normal katana. So in all of these scenes, he's striking people with the blunt edge of his sword. When he is ready to actually kill someone, he'll make a point of spinning the katana in his hand beforehand so that he's attacking with the sharp "inside" edge of the blade instead.
  • Clint’s “Oh wait never mind” is so hilarious and with Niko and Amy’s reaction makes it more funny.
  • @silver7788
Nico: "not feeling like there is a crowd waiting for their turn..." Meanwhile: 1:21 guy on the right...
  • @russetwolf13
Corridor: Why is there no blood? Must be a stylistic choice. "A thousand voices cried out in anguish."
  • @VegetaLF7
The Rurouni Kenshin scene not having blood is actually a MAJOR plot point of his whole character. Kenshin used to be a super skilled assassin (he's basically John Wick but with a sword) that fought in the revolution in Japan where they went from the Samurai dominated feudal system to the more modern Imperial system they adopted afterwards. He was so deadly of an assassin that he was known as a Manslayer and his lethality became legendary. After the war, Kenshin refused to ever kill again, having become so traumatized by his actions, that he gets a specialized katana where the blade is flipped around with the sharp side on the inside of the curve instead of the outside like normal. His every sword strike is blunt instead of a cutting blade. He's intentionally knocking out or knocking down his opponents and pummeling them to submission rather than cutting them down.

The fight scene in atomic blonde is my all time fav. So gritty and realistic. Made the whole movie for me.
