Sparking Discussion - RWBY Power Scale Guide

Published 2022-08-18
This video is a basic guide discussion the power scale I use for What If discussions. This guide was made so that others could use the scale and guide for their own character and ideas. Created with Wondershare Filmora. RWBY owned by Rooster Teeth.

  • We have been blessed with the knowledge on how to power guide as well with D2 gameplay. Today is a good day
  • Oooh yes, this is the good stuff. I love this kind of systems and you did a great job, granted some stuff (specially semblances and battle damage) could vary heavily depending of the character, but even then that is solve with minor tweaks, so it isnt really a problem just something to consider when making a character (Like if they fight mainly with kicks like Mercury losing an arm would not hurt as much as someone like Yang or even Ruby who punch or use two handed weapons). That being said, I would love a video detailing how you measured the level of some of the characters in order to have more examples to use as basis.

What about the incorporation of Dust to influence power levels? One of the things that always seems to be a factor for "leveling up" is how the character might include Dust in their set up. We don't see it much now, but Blake's use of Dust creatively leveled the playing field between herself and Roman; and it is a long old comment I no longer think it canon, but Miles did say that Adam's shimmer affect in the Black Trailer was Dust related on the first RWBY RTX panel, so it is possible that Adam's base power was amplified by using clothes and sword made of fire Dust. With this in mind, Dust is a wild card in manipulating the power scale based on a) core fighter mechanics and b) Semblance capability.
  • Do you have Ruby's and Yang's totals explained in other videos? I tried looking through your channel to find them and the explanations but I couldn't find any video that would conceivably contain them.
  • Interesting ideas though in my story, let’s just say they’re even greater categories.
  • this is a very weird way to measure power levels in RWBY. but it's unique i guess. do you plan on future videos for scaling individual characters?

I really don't understand how people use mathematics to measure what someone's power number is. Anyway, this is not a power scale guide because it uses power numbers, or power levels, to measure how powerful a character is. I would highly recommend not using power numbers for that. Instead, you should use power scaling which means how skilled and experienced someone is, what kind of training they received, what their equipment is, and so on, but it never involves the use of measured, numerical levels. That way it would create some fun thought experiments on how the fight would go if you pit two very different characters against each other instead of just checking who has a higher power number and having them win because of that.
  • Not trying to be a huge douche, but you accidently mispronounced Yang's' gauntlets "Ember Celica" in which you pronounced it (Ember Celcia) but not gonna lie it sounds way more fitting with it being "Celcia" kinda like Celsius which makes logical sense as it matches to her overall theme :0
  • I think your " scaling " is wrong because your using power level when those things does not exist in Rwby proper. I think you got the bare bone right its just i cant call this a power scale guide. So for the sake of it i made a few correction i hope to hear your opinion on mine. (this is what i personaly use for oc power scaling) For the sake of time i got WAY into it and the comment was a bit too long so i'm just going to give the power scaling and a Link to the whole comment now in a Document.
