One of my favourite directors working today.

Love the advice here. It works in every facet of life.

I love his movie.

The beach is my favourite book, I felt the film bastardised the story.

I think the part he leaves out about collaboration is, collaborate with people who have the same vision as you do
-
But what if the collaborators DON'T share the same vision, no matter how hard you try to tweak them? Then you NEED to "get a litte auteur" on their asses, right? 😄 I love the auteur theory, but ig you feel cool with asking the DP how HE wants to shoot, instead of telling him how YOU want it to look, that's your thing. As long as it looks/sound good. It it does. You're one hell of a filmartist.
