my mum is fully colourblind and rlly short sighted, as a kid she would constantly get told off by teachers for colouring in things wrong and not being able to see the board (even glasses can’t help her eyesight). it’s actually so crazy how strong and hardworking she is because i never realised she was colourblind until she told me at 8 or 9, and she chose to live like everyone else, when she would live at a special building (when she was younger) which focused on helping people with conditions like hers, learn only basic skills, like how to cross streets and buy food for herself. she wanted to do more in life, but didn’t have the guidance she needed. my mum was able to protect and raise me and my sibling like any mother, and we would always do art projects together as she is very creative. her favourite colour is red because she sometimes can see if at nighttime when it’s really dark. she has tried glasses for colourblindness in the past, but she says it’s too distracting and that the colours makes it harder to see, so she prefers to see the way she was born to. after being let go from multiple jobs for not having the correct equipment/abilities to work on the same level as more abled people, my mum is now training to become a nurse (which has always been her dream), and is being supported by an organisation for people with disabilities like hers. u seemed interested in the guys story about colourblindness, so i thought I’d tell a bit about my mums <3
