Episode Notes:

1. Captured on the Mega SD/SG combo.

2. You'll notice in Thunderstrike the mini-map is glitched out. I'm not sure if this was a Mega SG or SD issue exactly.

3. Some of these selections could be flipped and I wouldn't have an issue with it. In fact, I had a hell of a time deciding between Shining Force CD and Dark Wizard in that category.

4. With my Wondermega repaired and operation again, I believe I will start capturing from real hardware again. The convenience of the Mega SG/SD is awesome, but I ran into a few sound and graphical issues making this video that really irritated me.

5. Final Fight CD tends to be around $50 in Japan. Less than half a complete US release.

6. Road Rash is a pain to capture from the Sega CD. The licensed music has to be turned way way down to keep the copyright hounds at bay.

7. This episode was a massive undertaking. More than 30 minutes, it took nearly 40 hours to make.

I love how game developers were creative and took bold decisions so naturally. I'm glad we lived thru those great days in the 90s.

Hearing SLX say “this was incredibly fun to make” you just know as an audience member you’re in for a treat.

This feels like a present for me. I got a day off work and my wife is working. So what did I do? I got up and the first thing I did today was watching this video. Great content! I love Sega and thanks to the MegaSD I could finally explore the whole Sega CD library.
  • I just love your passion for these games. Your first hand perspective during the lifetime of these consoles is invaluable.

Final Fight CD is so much better than the SNES version, too bad Sega CD wasn't on my radar back then, and even if I wanted one I wouldn't have been able to afford one. I was able to get on the Sega Saturn train though. I'm just now re-visiting the Sega CD library over the last few years thanks in large part to Sega Lord X videos👍
  • Seriously, you inspire me with your love for video games. Watching your content fills me with nostalgia for a time long since passed and the beauty that came with it. I didn't grow up with the Sega CD, but I did grow up with the Mega Drive and the 16 bit generation was an incredible time to and I was fortunate enough to have experienced it even if being born in 91 meant that the 32 bit consoles were when I would become a gamer.

I remember going to my friends house , he always had the latest and the greatest , he was the first to have a psx too . I remember going in his back room and his older brother and friend were playing mortal kombat on sega cd , I was mesmerized… that’s as close as it got to an arcade port back in those days . After a few rounds of MK I remember playing tomcat alley , and firing the missiles and the FMV kicking in … I was thinking I stepped into a new gen of gaming , this got me fired up for the 32 bit coming the next couple years … freaking awesome time in gaming , great video SLX good stuff

nobody looks at NBA Jam on the Sega CD. but it played just like it does in the Arcade!

I’ve gone a little nuts adding Sega CD games to my Genesis Mini. Fun to see what I missed out on all these years.

My mate had a mega cd back in the day, he had jaguar xj220, I'd only played the amiga port and was blown away by the sprite scaling on the mega cd. To see sprite scaling on a home system always impressed me.

I got my Sega CD for Xmas in '93, and absolutely loved it! Sure, it never lived up to its full potential for several reasons, but my friends were just blown away by Sonic CD, Eternal Champions, the enhanced port of NHL 94, etc...good memories!
  • I remember sewer shark, snatcher, final fight, robo aleste, tomcat alley, terminator, space ace and night trap being my favorite sega cd games I used to own. Oh and Star Wars rebel assault!

I normally only watch YouTube videos that are in the 10 minute range(give or take), as I find most content creators don't have much to say past that time period(if I even watch that long). SLX is one of the few, where I will watch a 30 minute plus long video, and enjoy every minute of it. So thanks again for all the amazing content, as it's greatly appreciated.

I loved the Sega CD and was there right at launch. The store I got it from had only 1 early one and said it was one of the first ones in Los Angeles. Think it was supposed to be a floor demo in advance of regular stock but they had no kiosks so they sold it to me. Loved every minute of it and it genuinely felt like the next generation. Really glad you gave Jaguar a shout out. It’s not flashy but I had a ton of fun with it and it had a pretty good soundtrack.

I grew up with the Sega CD. A close friend I was all the time with had one, and it was not uncommon we rent a CD or two and spend a weekend at his house playing. I missed a mention to Spiderman, which for me would win the best original over Terminator. Great video.

yes yes yes, I cannot get enough of the sega CD so many titles that made the first jumps into CD platform
  • @l1uchill
Nice compilation! One of the best gaming awards I have seen! Awesome Video SLX!

Excellent choices - I'd have chosen about 90% of what you did here. Watching this reminded me of how CORE really understood the hardware, and made several of my favorite games on the platform. Great video, sir!
  • @Oysterblade84
Congratulations on the video Sega Lord X! No doubt alot of blood, sweat and tears went into making this, well done. Just wanna point out some things like the Formula 1 racing game ''Beyond The Limit'' or ''Heavenly Symphony'' in Japan. I noticed there was no footage of that game in your video and I fully understand not all games were going to be included, but that game has some of the best scaling and rotation i've ever seen on the system. My most favourite F1 racing game of all time! Also the Core Design Mega Drive/Genesis games such as ''Chuck Rock'' and ''Wolfchild''on the add-on included extra levels and in some cases the same levels were extended to make a larger, longer playing experience, tis was briefly mentioned in the video but not those specific titles. Awesome video, loved watching it.
  • Great video yet again SLX, no idea how you've managed to put out such a quantity of videos, whilst retaining the quality all this time. Refreshing to hear somebody just share their memories and experiences with some classic consoles and games, without resulting to shouting and swearing for the sake of it. Keep up the great work, we appreciate it 👍👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
