We are a little over a month away from this being 30 years ago. Still..to me...the best SPORTS event/game I have ever witnessed. The emotions as clear now as they were almost 30 years ago

Laettner best college player ever. he beat Shaq, the Fab 5, an undefeated UNLV team that had Augmon, Anthony and Johnson, GTown that had Mourning and Mutumbo. 2 Titles, 4 final four appearances at the peak of College Basketball.

Both coaches went deep into their bench. It's almost like they knew this would be a war of attrition.

There were no losers here. Mad respect to Duke coach for trying to console Kentucky players.

back when EVERYTHING had more character, including the name of the arena...the freakin' Spectrum, how RAD is that

28 years later and it's still one of the best basketball games of all time

this game was so good that even my parents watched it with me, and they never watch college basketball, they knew i was a duke fan, but they never watched the duke games with me, exce[t this one. and they were agonizing with me over the free throws, hoping laettner didn't miss those crucial free throws down the stretch.and i told them he never misses those.and praying i didn't jinx him.
  • Growing up in North Carolina.....I have watched a lot of good basketball.....but this is by far the best college basketball game ever played.

This was back in the good old College Basketball days when players stayed four years. It was very rare when a player went pro early. This was in the magical days of March Madness at its best. Not like to day. I still think this was the best NCA Tourment game I have ever watch. I was born in Arkansas and I am a Razorback fan. 91 and 92 Duke team was awesome to watch. Coach K will always be my favorit Basketball coach. He new how to coach.
  • The greatest basketball game i have ever seen which spans 39 years, including NBA.

I still remember watching this game. During halftime time i took back a borrowed copy of the Simpsons nes back to my friend. I also remember being on my knees in the living room when he hit that shot. That shot just snatched the souls of every cats fan around the world. Arguably the best college game ever.

This beloved Cat fan watched this great game again today. The whole game, except for the last 2.1 seconds...
  • What gets lost in Laettner making the buzzer shot is that he scored 31 points and did not miss one shot the entire game. He was 10-10 from the floor including one 3 pt shot and made all 10 FT. Maybe the greatest tourney performance ever !!

I was in the 8th grade when I saw this game, one of the best college basketball games ever played. Both teams were equally matched, high drama emotional thriller!!! I thought Kentucky had the game won lol, I wanted Duke to lose so bad. This era was the best in my opinion, a time when young men wasn't soft. Mashburn was a amazing player, clutch shot by C.L!!!
  • @hodell82
What makes this one of the greatest buzzer beaters ever is that there was exactly .2 seconds left when Laettner let fly. He literally shot it at the last possible moment - one heartbeat later and the shot would not have counted.
