I returned something at Kohls from amazon and they gave me a 25% off coupon on my receipt ....and I wound up buying something I wasn't planning on buying. So it worked on me.

I used to work at Kohl's and the emphasis on getting customers to sign up for a Kohl's charge was overwhelming. Interesting it doesn't seem to make too much of an impact.

Being an employee for quite a while now, I can definitely say the Amazon return gimmick works wonders, especially since we give everyone who has an amazon return an additional 25% off coupon. The rare instances I'm at a register and I see someone walk in with an amazon package, they always leave buying something. It was a great stroke of genius in a time of dire need for all retailers.

i feel like kohl’s is usually moderately empty but there’s always like a handful of moms buying a ridiculous mound of clothes
  • Kohl's has basically replaced JCPenney as the store where everyone's mother loves to shop, so I see it sticking around for awhile.
  • @misterjag
In this retail environment, if you're holding steady, you're doing well.
  • @NumericChaff
Early 1900's: Save up to buy an entire store or house. Now: Do i want groceries or a new pair of jeans.

“Not failing is its own success” Finally, something I can tell my parents so they’ll finally be proud of me!
  • I love the Amazon returns. There's just something hilarious about all other retailers being terrified of this huge beast and Kohls just lets it right in the front door.

I’ve never been to Kohl’s before until I found out it was the closest place I could return something from Amazon. After completing the return, the receipt included a $10 coupon to shop at Kohl’s

When I wanted my Apple Watch I found out it was $400 everywhere including Kohl’s, but Kohl’s gave me $120 in Kohl’s cash (which is store credit) so I paid the same price that I would have elsewhere, but got some free stuff with it
  • I didnt know kohls was so successful because everytime i go to one its always empty
  • @QueenShanine
The Amazon return is big because anytime I’ve gone to Kohl’s to return an Amazon purchase they’ve given me a kohl’s coupon which enticed me to spend in store 😀
  • That CEO is probably one of the savviest minds in retail. She's figured out the most creative ways to keep a brick-and-mortar store thriving.

“Why is Kohl’s so successful?” Me: “is it?”
  • @lilishep3764
The two previous episodes for "Why they're successful" have both been on companies started in Wisconsin... either it's simply a coincidence or Company Man is trying to tell us something.

Your channel has helped me keep a heading with my business classes. With all the principle, accounting, and business law courses this channel has given me a real-world application of the knowledge I'm gaining.
  • @AC-jh4ge
Gotta say, I have been watching this channel for years, and this has been one of the most consistent and well produced channels around. Good job and keep up the great work!!
  • @jeanaquin
Kohls started as a GROCERY STORE??? File that under “interesting facts”.
