I immediately stopped caring about the Pokemon League and Nemona. My #1 priority? Get those McGuffins and save that guys' freaking dog! LOL
  • @Lupinemancer87
After that one scene, Arven went from being an obnoxious jerk, to my top priority.
  • You can really tell that Arven looks like both of his parents. He's got Sada's eyes, Turo's jawline, and a combination of their hair colours. It's a really good detail that makes it clear that he was designed with both games in mind, or that both professors were designed with him in mind.

*Me seeing Arven at the beginning of the game:* Man you're a jerk how dare you be mean to our vroom vroom steel scale puppy *Me seeing Arven at the end of the game:* I WOULD AND WILL DIE FOR YOU AND MABOSSTIFF ARVEN I AM SO SORRY OH MY GOD

It broke my heart in Violet to figure out that Sada peaced out cause Turo lost it, left him with Arven and Turo literally died and we spend the whole time trying to save his dying dog just to find out he already had a dead single dad <\3 Like my poor tragic boy is an orphan.
  • @MizuHime07
Dude the moment we found out about Mabosstiff, I just wanted to save him first. Especially since I just rescued 2 kittens the year prior, I’d just wanted to help him the most. And then to find out the ending gutted me. I’m like Arven needs a therapist.
  • @JasLamArr91
I appreciate them actually killing their professor. I also like how the game make you care about Arven, Penny and Nemona to the point it felt believable that they all became friends at the end.
  • @lachbullen8014
I actually feel sorry for the young lad abandoned by his Cowley dishonourable father in his own mother leaving him to focus on her research only to suffer a fatal accident down the line the lab would probably need a lot of therapy and can Pokemon actually address more serious issues like this..
  • @GamerFromJump
Standard Pokémon procedure is for Protag-kun or Protag-chan to have a missing dad (unless you’re May/Brendan). But Arven is like “hold my tear stein” and has missing both, plus a monster tried to kill his doggo friend. The same monster that killed Mom/Dad (which has to have him like, “yo, WTF?”, when you catch it and add it to the team.)

And I got Pokémon daddy issues instead of Pokémon mommy issues

Arven's story was the most compelling to me in the vanilla-game. Even before learning of his dog's sickness, I was curious about his personality and overall the way he was acting. When learning of his mabostiff's condition, it really hit me and felt the sense of wanting to quickly help him. But it wasn't until the end of the story- that it really hits me harder than ever the position that this kid was in. Prof. Sada/Turo's obsession with reaching what is considered an "astronomical" goal and neglecting in the first place what they always wanted which was a family... It's very admirable Arven's resolve, specially for his age. He is my second favorite story in the entirety of SV's titles! Always enjoy seeing him push forward for his goals and dreams. Also been enjoying these analysis of the characters- brings forwards the human aspects of them. While PKMN writing is usually simpler, you can find the possible complexity.

Huh, Ive played the game so much that I forgot about the objective of finding my own treasure. I know the game's ending implies that the real treasure are the friends you made along the way. But for me, in a gameplay's perspective, my treasure was completing the entire shiny living dex in Pokemon violet. (Not counting all alternate forms but regional forms counts. Also not counting shiny locks.)
  • @PokeUFO
Me and my son cried watching this guy's story chills goosebumps please game Freak don't dump this character I want to see him become something great ( the Professor of gen 10 ) ~ I hope this comment ages well
  • Arven is such a sweetheart, and he's such a good friend ❤. And it actually becomes revealed in hidden Treasure DLC that it was US THE PLAYER that caused it all with Sada/Turo receiving a "White book", aka Briar's book from us, and thus sparked their obsession. So in short, everything happened to Arven bc of the MC and THAT'S a heartbreaking revelation 😢.
  • @Manarchickl
I must say if you hate Arven somehow and you’ve beat the game we can’t be friends
  • @ligtblade7102
I love how almost everyone went "OK this guy sucks I hate him 😒" to "I LOVE HIM SM PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS!"
  • Every game has its own unique tragic story for sure. This is no different
