  • Ya in Montreal we had MLW plant later Bombardier. It was cool to compare more slanted nose of silver LRC JV1, the original prototype to straighter nose production units. I almost could touch Amtrak 38 and 39. The 2 LRC they got to be purchased back by VIA Rail.....to never run again. Remember VIA LRC 6910 with half front inside the fenced property while half rear was out with crew waiting to take delivery while there was still doing handbrake adjustment. I catch it later on in Montreal North going toward Central station. 6910 and sisters never passed there again. NdeM and FCP Mexican M424, CN HR412 and HR616 ended the story. Prototype LRC was scrapped there and HR412 demo 7000 sit there for years before finally finding a home. Except a small brick building, everything was torn down. In steam era, CP Delorimier shops, than Angus, on CN Pointe St Charles and MLW builted brand new steamers. Now we produce nothing. So sad. Thanks for sharing what is now an historical document.

During the 90'S, many of the BIG western roads had their new power built here.

Dayum, this is great. I remember seeing F59PH's on GO Transit back in the 2000s long before MP40PH's and MP54AC's became the face of the network.

Fascinating video. Thank you for sharing it. @TuxedoRailway
  • Not gonna lie, I hope to god I never see an F59 again. They've aged like warm milk. The MPI's honestly are better and even the P42's are still better, albeit, with that "take forever to load" early 90's GE charm.

They will never replace diesel power on rails unless they electrify the entire system which won't happen.
  • Back in the 70s the master mechanic L Finnerty in Hamilton Ont took us who were on an engineers training course to tour the plant at London On wall they had a large sign that read no cameras allowed
